| Just thought I would give information for people who are applying for residency in the near future. We went this morning to Girne Police Station. Arrived at 7.15am and put our names on the list. We were 23 and 24. They only hand out 28 tickets and people arriving at 7.30 onwards could not get a ticket. Don't know whether Monday morning had anything to do with it. Things you need to take. Passports Copy of Passports (Picture page and last residency renewal page) Muhtars letter - original (One each). Stick 1.50 tl stamps on the letter. Copy of latest bank statement (one each) Copy of Kocan or Sale agreement Copy of Wedding cert (they took it but we think it was not required) Pink residency card Another piece of useful information is that the Cafe next to the Market sells stamps and does photocopying. | What's the minimum you need in your account for residency? Any idea what the fines are if your residency has lapsed? |

The government do not, we believe, stipulate a specific amount that needs to be in a bank account. However, it would need to be a substantial amount to live off for a year. Sorry cannot help on the second question. May be someone else can?

In the last 2 months, a neighbour has renewed her residency, got 2 years residency & provided a statement for a local account with a minimal amount in it. No query at all. This person does not have any savings here at all & just draws money on UK. bank accounts as & when.

Good grief how many more folks are going to post on this topic. It's been done to death. I know you mean well, but by heck how many more times do we have to be told. There is a residency section at the top anyway

Msg 7 Krypton How very unkind!!! You may be all sorted with your residency but for some people it can be very difficult & confusing. The rules change frequently - some/a lot of the information on the residency section is completely out of date. If you don't like the subject of a thread then why not just scroll past it and open one that you don't think has been 'done to death'! (like football maybe?) Maggie

Probably right but why don't folks look at the top for discussions on this issue before starting another thread. To be really helpful go to the BRS website. Memebers and non members can access

Maybe a dedicated section could be made for football related issues? then those of us who are not remotely interested don't have to trawl through them all! At least residency questions concern most of us! Maggie

My friend went yesterday to do her residency and arrived at 11.15am. There was nobody waiting and she went straight in and was finished by 11.20am. Happy days.......
