A friend from the UK had hers done here. She went to the eye Clinic near Tulips, the Cancer shop. She says she had better treatment here than she did with her first one in the UK. Tulips is down the main street in Girne and before you get to the turning down to The Rocks Hotel it is in a precinct on your right.

Yes, I know several people who would like more details, so I echo Katenianholia - do you have any more details Geronimo. Yes, I know we could all go in the shop, but it helps to know if it is remotely affrordable.

Sorry I am not sure of the cost, I shall find out as I will be seeing them tomorrow (Wednesday) and then shall post then if that is ok. Never occurred to me to ask as I was not in need of such an op at the time!

Found out last night that the operation cost £800 but this was three years ago so guess that the cost is higher now, but then again maybe not. The op was 6.30 at night, went home with a patch, back the next morning to have it removed and hasn't had any problems since. Good luck.

My sister went to Optical Express thinking it was £395 but actually was nearly £2500! and was told that £395 was just basic laser and per eye. However she did have it done and is very happy wih the results

It all depends on the problems with your eyes. If you are short sighted, long sighted, have stigmitism etc. If your eyesight is down to age, then a different procedure to fit a new lense into your eye is needed. My son had this procedure done last year in North London through Optical express and it cost in excess of £5000. He is however delighted with the results and is now free from glasses or contact lense after wearing them from the age of 5. His day time vision is perfect but has slight halo effect at night when driving, which has lessened as time has gone on. The butlers wife

I guess the real question is - is it cheaper, dearer or the same here as in U.K, where the costs are now VERY competitive. I agree it depends on what is wrong, but I know someone with the most appalling eye sight who had both eyes done for £3000 and has never looked back (pardon the pun). So does anyone know how prices here compare for say, a complicated condition such as two rotten eyes needing pebble style glasses/

Yes Oceana, but is Turkey even cheaper, and of course it is a real problem for the ex pats who speak no Turkish. But fo rmost of us, price is what matters (as well as trusting the surgeons)

They had it done in Turkey because the surgeons there were more trusting apparently so I don't think it was cheap. I'm not sure about the price but it was a large sum like 8000tl or 4000tl, I may be wrong.
