Vaccum/shrink bags on flights.

Hi Flying out on 16th and hoping to take some small items over with us- bedding etc. Can we use shrink bags in the hold? Got visions of my luggage exploding and never seeing my(hopefully)completed home!!!Im nervous flying at the best of times, and dont want the added worry of not reaching my destination. Lisa

I have used these bags several times when taking out duvets, feather pillows etc. They have been perfectly fine. Must admit never thought of checking with airline. I once took out Hammerite paint without any bother and was then told you should never fly with paint but I don't know if this is true or not.

While not claiming any aircraft or special knoweldge I dont see how something you have removed most of the air from can explode. When one of the shink bags is opened or gets a hole in it air rushes in not out so its not like an aerosol fire extinguisher etc which is compressed under pressure and can explode under certain conditions. I've used them several times on flights both for luggage in the hold and carry on with no problems.

All well using these bags but the weight allowance will be the same fit more in but might be over when you check in your bags weigh them before you leave
