Talking about malaria, I went to give blood on Tuesday in Glasgow and they refused my blood cos I'd been in mainland Turkey in May -apparently the coast from about Mersin right down to Iskenderun going back to Gazantiep is malarial!!!!

Hi Lee,

You are perfectly correct in saying that the Dominican Republic is the stomach upset capital of the world.

I would take plenty of medication with you. Do not eat any salads, or anything uncooked. Do not have ice cubes in drinks, don't eat any ice cream and only drink bottled water. If you take these precautions you will possibly be ok.

we went to Tanzania last year, we got our anti malaria tablets from the chemist round the corner from Pia Bella, we got a prescription (free) from the private clinic opposite, the tablets were approx 7tl a box, loads cheaper than UK, we both took them and we were not ill at all x

Stick to the Dom-Toms then sue France should anything medically go wrong! Make sure you carry the NHS 'European Health Insurance Card'.
