Having always in the past flown to North Cyprus with CTA I am most concerned that when I and my two dogs and 1 cat come to live in our home in North Cyprus in December, that the only feasible way is to fly with Turkish Airlines. I know they have a good reputation but the fact that my pets will be classified "excess baggage" and that there is a plane change at Istanbul is keeping me awake at night! The Relocation Pet Travel Co. who were going to make all the travel arrangements for my animals will no longer help because of the failure of CTA. I would appreciate news from anyone who has recently imported pets with TA and how they managed the transfer at Istanbul. All paperwork, pet passports, rabies injections etc. are in order (for the animals not me - no silly replies please). I chose to travel in December as I thought the temperature then would be more suitable for the pets to acclimatise. Everything else is in place including household shipment.

Probably not very helpful now but I took a dog Heathrow to Ercan in 1981 when Turkish Airlines were VERY basic and there was no problem at all despite a change of aircraft in Istanbul. As it is a very organised and modern airline now I would think you would have no problems as long as all the paperwork is in order. I'm sure there are other companies that will make the arrangements for you.

You can bring your pets if they have a health certificate Damchi with Tk Turkish airlines. Plane change will not be a problem. You will pay excess weight only for the kilo they weight. They need health certificates and need to be in cages. When you make your resevation do notify the person who makes your booking to state that you will be taking pets and list how many and what they are on to the system as it will be more than one, so that when you get to the airport you won't face any problems. They all need to be caged separetly. They should guide you.

Hi Hazel, Re Msg 1

We have currently got one dog due to be on it's way to North Cyprus in a few days and two more in about a month. Hold on for a couple of weeks, when we know that the problems (if any) are small ones and more important resolve them.

IAH help people to transport their pets in association with an expert shipper and quarantine facility (who have been doing Boarding, Quarantine, Shipping, and Grooming services for a mere 55 years).

IAH have been offering this service to our clients for quite a few years but as you know at present effectively the rules have changed so everything is a little in limbo. (Which is why I am not pushing what we can offer.) We are very grateful for the help/ideas from KAR etc.

PS There seem to be potential problems with Turkish/Anadolou at present from Istanbul to Ercan (as we found out having arranged the pets above and having then to regroup and do the transit another route entirely).
