Can you hire a car in Larnaca Airport and take it to Kyrenia for 2 weeks,If so what crossing point would you recomend and which company. The reason being is the £ 50 for a taxi each way would be better spent on a car hire. Has a schedule been set up for flights from Manchester for 2011 yet,was badly bitten with the summer CTA shambles, would much rather fly to Ercan than to Larnaca. Mark

I have always used Bird taxis - very reliable. However, I am now looking elsewhere because the prices are so high my visitors are looking elsewhere. Pacific Rentals seem far more reasonable and are insured - any feedback from other members?

Just hired a car from aone car rental and they pick you up from Larnaca for £25. There are 4 of us and we are going back on 2 different dates so it means 3 trips to Larnaca. All together for two weeks car hire and 3 trips its cost £313. Don't think thats at all bad. Brend

Hi Rocky aone cars are from TRNC so shouldn't have problems with insurance. They come highly recomended from friends that have used them. Funnily enough we hired from Petras in March of last year and I couldn't think of their name otherwise might have used them again as they were also good. Brend

Car hire in the south is getting cheaper even with the 35 / 40 (for two drivers) euro insurance at the border. We saved approx £70 when we hired for eleven days at the begining of Sept. We used Economy car hire. They are brokers and only use the top car hire companies in the south ie; Budget, Avis etc. There are two Economy websites. One is all blue the other is orange and blue. Use the orange and blue site. AP.

I too would recommend Economy Car Rentals. When you get to the Metahan crossing, go to the kiosk on the right, pay in Euros for your insurance, its cheaper than Sterling, then take the insurance document to the customs kiosk opposite with your passports. Getting to the Metahan crossing through south Lefkosa from Larnaca is not easy if you haven't done it before, especially at night after a long flight. If you haven't done it before, say so on the board and I will post car travel instructions.

Re: messages - Hiring Cars from the South This is something I have considered in the past, but not sure how well you would be covered if involved in an accident in the North. I know you buy insurance at the border, but do you inform the hire companies that you are taking the car across the border to the North for 2 weeks? Just wonder what would happen if the car was involved in an accident and if the border insurance would actually cover the claim for repairss/injuries?

good points luvincyprus ..your email address, name and picture are all visible...and some are not so I guess you can be tracked on facebook and twitter then? ..I tend to use Bellapais Taxi and Car Hire not sure what name they are trading under but they have never let me down. I have a taxi booked from Larnaca very soon and a car whilst I am there both from Serhan.
