Have you googled it? I would if I was you. You can always visit the manyfacturers website and see their FAQs.

Dear Captain John Are both these devices connecting using USB cables ? Let's hope / assume they are - do you have any other USB devices - do they work ? When did this problem start ? Did you change anything? IF other USB devices work - are they working using the same ports as you've tried the printers on Under the device manager are there any error msgs Before removing or changing the software settings - try to answer these Q's / try these things..and revert !

I hate printer faults! Looks like you have done the basic fault finding thing by trying to install with a different lead on a different PC and still getting the same result. The fault must lie with the printer - BUT - have both printers failed at the same time? Were both printers working and "suddenly" gave you this off line message? As the MP520 is a multi function printer have you tried copying and printing without using the PC? Have you tried scanning a document into the PC? Have you tried using the photocopier function? Sorry to say it is a fault finding nightmare and you do need to make a list of things you have done first to see what else it might be. I doubt that both printers would suddenly fail at the same time unless of course you use them both for an equal number of prints and have changed the ink in both at the same time-ish! Have looked around for you and not found this fault listed but will try the Canon site for you next.

Just picked up one tip from the UBUNTO forum - if you have changed or refilled the carts on a canon printer then you must reset it or it will report offline!!! Don't ask me how you reset it please!!
