We arrive at the airport around midnight and fly on to ercan 7 ish next morning. I am trying to find out if it is possible to pay a fee and use the VIP lounge. I know it is free for business class passengers. would be grateful for any information including price. Many thanks

There is a lounge if you go up the first set of escalators then the second set it is on your right-hand side. I know people who, if they have a HSBC premier card, they may use it. I think that as long as one of the passengers has the card or whatever needed the person accompanying them can pay (at Heathrow this is £15). Also the ones at Heathrow close at certain times and this may be the case in Istanbul.

You might not be able to use it if you have to check in for the second flight in the check-in area. Most of the VIP lounges I remember you had to have your boarding pass and they were in the area after passport control. If you don't have to pass through customs or have your second boarding pass already (if it's with the same airline) you should be fine though.

If you have 8 hours between flights the airline should give you free access, depends on the timings, you were a little vague

Reply to message 7, unfortunately the stopover is just under 8 hours and I don't have a HSBC or a bank premier card. I have now read on the internet that some of the vip lounges only allow you access for a maximum of 3 hours. I guess I will just have to wait until I get there. Anyway thanks for all replies

millenium lounge beside the other lounges ( smoking available in area next door) - 50TL - as much booze, coffee etc. as you want. Small snacks available. Internet also free. At least it was earlier this year. Worth the money.

Thanks pious. Will let you know. Latest info from Turkish airlines is that there is only one VIP lounge and it is used by all airlines but only for business class. Just hope that we can go 'landside' ((though passport control) to find out!

ajaney, you are confused I think. You will NOT go landside if you are in transit which you should be unless you have strange travel arrangements. Thee are 3 lounges the THY one and two others, the application to enter is as has been said above, if you let us know your airline details we may be able to help more.

The only lounge that you cant pay to get in is the THY one, the others, as mentioned can be gotten in by payment or HSBC card.
