Whilst out walking the dogs with hubby. I went over like a ton of bricks and could not get up. I knew something bad had happened but did not think it was broken. The wicked nurse came over and said "that looks broken to me" and packed me off to Girne hospital. She was absolutely right broken it was. The Orthopaedic surgeon said I should stay in hospital for the night and I said no way I gotta go home. Have a temporary plaster on at the moment and am not allowed to put any pressure on it. That wicked nurse came to the rescue again with some wheels. Thanks Chris and TRNC Heathcare - you just don't know when you are going to need them.

Fancy breaking your leg at 60 years of age. Fancy getting your pants pulled down and getting an injection in the bum in full view of everyone that was around. Was I concerned no not really. Just hope I can get one of those Beckham boot jobbies. Also hope that Sardunya Bay put in a drive-in take-away service as I can't see him in doors doing all the cooking for the next 6 weeks.

LouLou I gave up drinking 3 weeks ago because my BP was through the roof, only having an occasional glass. I am sober as that Judge, you know the one I mean. But the Orthopaedic surgeon said I should take one every 1/2 hour this evening.

There is an old greek saying "mahima je ksimahima en gonda gonda". Roughly translated it means being able to and not being able to are very close.

Enjoy your break.

Sorry could not resist.

Hi Julia, We are both so sorry to hear about your accident, maybe if you had been pissed it wouldn't have happened you would have stumbled on and gone over very gently. I'm sure Paul will come to the fore with his culinary skills, I've got a good copy of Delia Smiths complete illustrated cookery course if he wants to borrow it. I suppose your comment at message 14 may explain the "moons" in your title. Get well soon

Just got back from Girne Hospital. More x-rays, blood tests, ecg. Back tomorrow 7am as they are going to operate and put a metal plate in to weld the break. Ouch not looking forward to that. Thanks for the crutches Chris.

Hmmm not long back from Girne Hospital. Guess what have spent 3 days in the hospital and the leg is still not fixed. Left home at 6:15 to be there for 7am sat/laid around until 1pm when they said sorry no operation today you must come next Wednesday. But here is your lunch and you must wait for see doctor. I was starving and the lunch was not too bad today quite tasty. But by 3pm I had definitely had enough of waiting for the doctor and we left. Rang the lovely nurse and am booked into Medikent tomorrow. I can't go walking around TRNC with a broken a leg it hurts.

Well had the operation on Thursday and of course they would not let me out until today and threatened to keep me in till Monday. I had a dressing change to day and was amazed to see a line of metal staples down the wound, it looked like a zipper, so I must get a picture of that before they come out. Anyway, I have this great xray showing all the pins etc., which I hope will come up here. Here goes.

Medikent were great, no they were fantastic. After being let down by Girne hospital I could not take the chance of leaving it another week and maybe another week.

I arrived at Medikent Thursday morning and was x-rayed straight away, taken to a lovely room and got ready for the operation. Food was okay, I have decided I quite like Turkish breakfast now.

Can not get around much for the next 6 weeks as I cannot put any weight on it. So been looking for restaurants without any steps for me to go to. Or will hire a chief cook and bottle washer.
