I was wondering whether anybody else in North Cyprus rides one of the above and might be interested in forming a scooter club?? I have seen from time to time classic Vespas buzzing around the area and thought maybe their might be other enthusiasts out there thinking the same thing? Drop me a line if you are or know anybody who might be interested. Cheers Mod63

Hi Eagleyemonkey Maybe some of my problems were from listening to the shipping agents and not people with previous experience! I was told to expect to pay 33% Import tax of the scooters value - I paid 100% I was told I would pay nothing for 1 year if it has UK tax - Customs refused and I had to apply for import an license. The scooter was almost 4 months late being delivered from the shipping company. On delivery to our villa the scooter was tied to the side of a transit truck with no protection and has gained paint scratches on route, even though I had paid for delivery in its own crate. The only advice I can give is do some research as the rules change all the time,Maybe Rob (mod63) could give you a few tips has he has imported a clasic scooter. I hope your import goes a little smoother than mine

Hi Eagleyemonkey If you are thinking about importing your classic Lambretta,i can let you know a step by step procedure to ensure that it goes painlessly.I initially had to contact and join the Classic Car Club of North Cyprus who then gave me some invaluble information and advise on how to import a 'classic' (over 25 years old) car/scooter etc.It only took a few days after the scooter arrived at the port to have it back with me in Lapta....in one piece! If you want some help with carry out the exercise from start to finish just let me know and i will be more then happy to give you a hand as i am now resident in the TRNC. Cheers and i look forward in hearing from you Rob

Hi, Mod63 Thanks for that offer. I have a 1965 Lambretta Li150 which I have restored. I am not ready to import it just yet as I am still in the UK until the house sells. I will get back in touch with you nearer the time. Many thanks again, Eagleyemonkey.

Hi mod63, We are very interested in joining your scooter club. My husband owns a Suzuki scooter, it is not a classic (only 1 year old, and we can tell a story about importing it !!). At the moment we only go out for rides on our own. it would be great to have some company.
