Speak to Ilker Kiral - tel: 0542-8584631. He's an excellent electrician and does a lot of generator work and will certainly be able to help you,

Hi Basheer , due to not having electric here for 3 whole days and nights , we investigated the posibility of generators thoroughly . Our Mukhtar advised us to get one from UK and ship it out . He advised a KVa 10 , that covers your swimming pool as well.

Good luck , Simbas

Simbas, by the time you get it here and pay the duty its hardly worth it. Generators have actually come down in price a lot since I came here several years ago. I think now that we have much shorter and less power cuts a small generator is more than ample.

Bashee, I think you need a diesel generator for it too start automatically. I have a small honda only 2.5kv and it works everything that I need and more ie lights, fridges, computer,tv, but obviously not a kettle, iron, air con etc. Just get a manual change over switch fitted so you don't blow it up when the power comes back on.

My generator maybe for sale after Monday as moving and may not need it, I will advertise it on here.

i have a bran new gererator that i imported from usa ..briggs and stratton [ the best i hear] 5 kw .. you will never need 10 kw's for one average size house !! unless you insist on turning on 3 ac 's ,oven ,pool all at once ?? [why would anyone ever need to do that that].. i tried it with everything on in my 3 bed house .. pool,tv,several a/c.s etc .no problem i have a guy that can fit it for you but to be honest it aint that hard .you will need a heavy duty switch for switch -over from mains to gennie which ill sell also... just duplicate the installation that is on my house .. **** reason im selling ****, i dont live there .. never will .. and if i get the odd power cut ill go down to the corner bar in alsanjak and just get pissed ... email me if you like, im in uk at the moment .. be trnc mid october .. ps my ginnie sits on a very nice frame with easy move handle and nice big wheels with new tryes [everything new] never used since it arrived .. lindsay mrburpi@hotmail.com

guy's thanks for your tios, the actual reason for wanting a generator is for unforeseen circumstances!!My Agent here in town did not pay my last light bill for some unknow reasons and they came and disconnected the villa ouch! my wife and daughter were there at the time and by the time the agents paid on line ,my family got to the girne to produce the reference and they were closed 3.20pm so that was that a night without electricity can be very boring and scary, our neighbours kindly took our freezer stuff for the night, due to the power disconnection, the bill was in Greatstone who are no longer in business and what now was required was name passport and tittle deeds to change the account to my wife to get any electricity back, plus a reconnection charge, lucky for us and her kimlit card the cost wont be much for the transfer, saying this I now really feel sorry for some living in NC for months as I have heard without electricity,I feel for you all but prepare for the next cut!!however
