Divide and rule (derived from Latin divide et impera) (also known as divide and conquer) is a combination of political, military and economic strategy used by many governments including the USA and UK. You'd be shocked if you knew what went on in the name of democracy and defence of the realm! Many governments use the manipulation technique of "Problem-Reaction-Solution" to achieve what they want!

This guy is trying to save his neck by playing with people's nationalistic feelings to justify worse actions in Turkey! He has nothing to lose by such unproven/unsubstantiated claims but a lot to gain since he may be facing many years behind bars! The message he is trying to convey to the nationalists is "It is no crime to throw a bomb here and a bomb there to get those who disagree with us in line! We even burnt a mosque in Cyprus in the name of national interest". Again, has anyone said which mosque and exactly when?

It was a slip of the tongue. the incident goes back to pre 1974 and the mosque in question is Bayraktar in the Greek quarter of Nicosia. Denktash adamantly denies it but ask any Turkish Cypriot and the chances are that they believe it is true, me included. ismet
