If its the Girne one you want it is in the big white building almost behind Girne hospital. Go down the road opposite Mollys and turn left.

Take the road from Salamis through Famagusta to the monument Island. Turn left onto the Dual Carriageway. Go on to the end, turn right and then take the first left.

The tax office is in the old colonial building immediately on your right.

For Alsancak you need the Girne office... as Deniz1 says... the simplest route is the Turning opposite Molly's Cafe in the Pia Bella road... right down to the bottom and 90 degrees left... mind the post in the road just around the corner!

It's the second big white block on the left. When you get inside the building bear left and through the double doors.

What documents do you need to take for your road tax?

And where can you find out how much it will cost?

Log book/mot/emmisions test/insurance/expired tax disc and of course money

you will find out how much when the girl behind the desk takes off her Dick Turpin mask and tells you the amount

How to avoid a heart attack!!!!!!! Make sure that when you go to pay the tax on your car you have with you the following: An up to date emissions (never mind if you had one done last month....it must be in tune with the date of your MOT). An MOT document and all your other paperwork including your old tax paper-work.

Do not make our mistake, please.>>>>>>Get your emissions BEFORE you go to have an MOT.

Our MOT consisted of light and brake checks only......but because I had mistakenly made an error in the MOT date, I was fined by the Tax office. My husband paid TL150 and was sent to the police MOT station where my vehicle passed the test. We try our hardest to be legal on the road but it seems that things change without our knowledge. Do you all know that you should have a red band around your number plate now???? We didn't. We must have our heads in the sand!! When did this come about??

The red band has been the norm for at least 4 years... probably much longer. The rest of the rules they make up as they go along to ensure screwing the ex-pats is painless (for them).

As stated earlier...At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask!!
