Someone is putting poison down around the centre of Lapta. Our Efes had some this afternoon. Rushed him to Pertev the vet who has him on a drip but prognosis doesn't look good. Pertev said it is a very severe case of poisioning.

If you turn left just after the K-Pet as you enter the village, there is a small supermarket on the left. Then there's a funny sort of crossroads. Turn left at the crossroads and then right then left. Somewhere around there is his main sort of lurking ground. I would prefer not to let him loose out of the garden but he can just jump over the wall. Waiting for the fencing guy to come and put more fencing up all around the house.

Mike. Our thoughts are with you and Efes. This happened to us 2 years ago. Luckily our dog has recovered. He was actually on the lead when it happened after we had (we thought) cleared the street of many little piles of spam laced with lanate. Keeping our fingers crossed for you. Dont let him outside now, he has the run of our property. It might sound cruel he doesn`t go for walks but I never want to experience that again.

no spider, he had parvo shortly after turning up on our doorstep. The poor thing seems to spend more time in the vets than at home. I can understand why he's so reluctant to go to the vets now ;-) He knows he's in good hands though and behaves himself. It was just heartbreaking seeing him lying there so helpless, being sick, no bowel control, having difficulty breathing, foaming at the mouth. He kept trying to get up to come to me but he couldn't. I just dropped all the shopping, picked him up and took him straight to the vets. Got stuck in a bloody traffic jam just getting into Girne because of the road works. Unfortunately I don't think he'll see it through the night. We can't eat or anything because of the worry. Crossed fingers though.

Hi Mike NO Jack was the brother of Jill who turned up xmas day. They shot Jill. KaR said they were not vulnerable enough to rescue. Jack was in such a state so in the end we took him home. He loved me so much and would not leave my side even if i went to the loo, He would never ever leave me. However he is not the dog we rescued, he is now an absolute beauty. His coat is pure velvet, eyes to die for and i taught him to hold his head high. My guess he has been picked up or joined a pack, which I find hard as he has been with me over 9 months. no sign of his body anywhere

Sorry to hear about Efes. Anybody worried about their dogs getting out,we use a pet control collar, virtually impossible for your dog to get out, will cover an area of 500mtr square, the unit can take multiple collars, this really does work, cost is about £170 AND £30 per collar

There was another dog poisoned this morning in Badem Sokak, Lapta, we noticed it in the road as we were driving out. This dog was an old bitch, has been around here for a few years, we think it came from the goat sheds just below us. Hope Efes will be OK Mike, we have just bought some Atropine from the chemist in case our dog picks up any poison, even if she is tied up or roaming in our fenced garden anyone determined will throw poisoned food into gardens. Our two cats will be more difficult to keep safe, especially the 'Tom'.

hi all. Just been to pick Efes up, he's as back to his normal cheeky self thank god. Vet said he was very lucky. Apparently some women who came in after us last night and saw how poorly he was came back this morning to see if he was ok and were crying with joy. Mike the bike, msg 33, is it you that has the husky looking dog? If so Efes and your dog are best of friends, they love playing together. Alas, no more though. Not letting Efes out anymore.

thanks anyone. Just a quick question for anyone who's been through the same thing and had their loving dog survive, are there any side effects? He seems very lethargic and not walking properly. Is it a side effect or just because he's recuperating?

Hi Mike, Yes... our dog, and that of a friend's, who was poisoned, both suffered some side effects for quite a long time afterwards. As you suggest, lethargy, variable appetite and perhaps a little more temperamental than she had been, previously. It may take a few weeks (or longer) for him to be back to his old self... So glad he has pulled through - that's the biggest hurdle. What a blessing. Good luck with the recuperation!! (for all of you, I suspect! It is quite a harrowing experience...) X
