I was there as a Saints supporter but admit Saints were not with it at all, players playing out of place, no pace and no backs. Wigan outplayed us by a mile, give credit where credit is due they have done well. A minutes silence for Terry Newton was spoiled by some in the Wigan end though they are saying it was from 8 Hull supporters who were evicted from the ground after the first 5 minutes of play.

Speckie,

Hull supporters, could you be more specific as there are to teams in Hull as you know. That is an absolute disgrace,no matter which team they supported.Terry Newton was 31 years of age, married with a very young family.I know he had his problems in the game but to take your own life,is so sad,

Paul.

(Some) Hull fans have been' the Orcs' of RL since at least the late 50s ...Hull FC (sic) have been the main culprits ...for most of that period Hull City were a (very) minor soccer club; in cities where the main 'ball team' is soccer (i.e. Leeds) they attract the most trouble but if it's a RL team (i.e. Leigh) they do so ....when Hull City were in premiership there was less trouble at Hull FC

Believe they were Hull FC. Annoyed by some posters on RLF forums assuming Saints supporters would not respect the minutes silence. Did get a pat on the back from Greater M/c police. "the atmosphere yesterday was the best we have experienced when policing the grand final. There was minimal disorder and this led to a warm friendly atmosphere in the run up to the game and afterwards." 8 arrested for public disorder/drunk disorder 15 removed from the stadium out of 71,500 people.

....re trouble from Hull fans I have experienced it personally many times as a RL fan ...there have been several high-profile examples, though, which aren't as subjective ...remember the goal posts being pulled to the ground on live TV at a RL cup semi-final at Huddersfield? ...guess who?

Wigan are definately the team of the season. I have enjoyed watching them, when on tele, and through the highlight programmes on the engage super league link. Never thought that Stuart Fielden would get back to his high standards whilst he was at Bradford and in Sam Tomkins we have an English player that the Aussies will be very wary of. I'm a Giants supporter and a Yorkshireman, but well done Wigan this year. Maybe a Yorkshire team can re-claim that crown for 2011. Can't wait for the greatest game on this planet. Max..

I think Leeds are far from a spent force and finished the season with some big names out injured. They'll have a point to prove next season for sure.

msg 25, I have a feeling that my team (Huddersfield Giants) will be the main challengers to the Lancashire Mafia (Wigan & St Helens) next year. They've staedily improved over last 2 years, beat Wigan on their own turf a month ago, and have 6 players representing England on the Down Under tour.
