| Last week when we were out in NC we went to the Escape Beach, when I was in the sea by the swim platform I was waiting to get up the ladder and felt a little nip on my calf, not that painful but noticable then another and then some more, when I looked down I saw a lots of little fish around my legs coming in and taking little nips, these fish were only about 3/4" long, they didnt really hurt more like a midge bite, once I move they shot off, I have not read about these before, or if it has been put on the forum I have missed it, anbody else expirienced this, or is it just me as I am a magnet for sandflies. | Yes join the club, I suffer very badly from bites, and ny lower legs have lots of bites, this is what the fish are going for, I actually had to get out of the water, They ate every single scab , My Cypriot friend said this is very good they clean your bites, Its not just Escape its every beach I have been to, I think may be they are more active at the moment due to the water being warm. Whats your Blood Group ? |

dd, it only tickles a little bit sweetheart. Good for your skin. They always nibble my feet because of all the dead, old, dry skin from walking around in sandals all the time. The water softens it and they nibble it off.

The fish in the one at Trafford Centre are advertised as Turkish fish.

There is a spa in Turkey where many people with skin ailments, including tourists, go, for what you are describing as 'fish pedicure'. However , I believe the ponds are fed by hot [warm] springs, like Rotorua, or Hanmer Springs, in New Zealand. Don't worry, these little fish aren't 'Turkish Pirhanas'!

woodspeckie, not been to the trafford centre for years, went one year just before christmas and it took me 2 hours to get out of the car park so I vowed never again. Regularly used to see tail backs onto the motorway just for getting in there. Another thing, had a burger and chips there with a friend in one of their 'gourmet' restaurants and we both got food poisoning.

Well its finally happen in the South East, there is a wait for it, "Fish Spa Pedicure Centre" Opened in naturally of all places Royal Tunbridge Wells where people pay for the pleasure of having their feet munched by little fish, not mention of prices as yet but its sure to cost an arm or leg (depending if they are using Piranha), got to be cheaper getting a flight to NC and walking into the sea.
