Hi All I have been a project manager for a computer network cabling company for the past 15 years, dealing fibre telephone systems etc, and have worked in many different sectors, from schools to hotels and factorys to shops. My question is does anybody know of any such companies or job roles in TRNC, as eventually i will be looking to move over to TRNC, would even like it, if it could happen in the next 12 months. Any feedback would be gratfully recieved

May I ask why TRNC? If one is interested in a move surely a thorough investigation of the prospects of employment is required as well as living standards. Your project management skills are ideal for such a research, however as you are unable to do even the most basic of investigation about such a simple matter, do you really think employers will have the confidence in employing you.

Positions do exist but few and far between and wages are low on the whole, If you need to work to live I would say the TRNC is not the place for you IMO.

yfred first of all it was a general question, the first of many processes, which you may be aware that you have to start somewhere, and why not start with the easy first, second of all, i dont need to look at property prospect, as i already have property out there. Oviuosly you are one of the many forum members, that has to pass judgement, instead of being helpful and answering the question.

The order of recruitment choice at the moment is supposed to be TRNC citizens first, Turkish Citizens next, and Foreigners last! Albeit in reality - because most projects are taken up by mainland Turkish companies who wish to bring over their own stock - the choices shift to Turkish citizens first - TRNC citizens next - Forigners last. This, they do by putting an ad in the paper advertising for a position and then ignoring all applicants from TRNC. The ad is shown to apptopriate ministry claiming "look! we cannot find the right qualified person here" and getting the necessary work permits for their pre-decided employees from Turkey. The same applies for the new hotels and their personnel. In short, you would probably have a chance with a non TC or TRNC investor - if they exist - otherwise it would be very difficult.

Chessy, don't get too upset, I was merely pointing out your shortcomings? All you have to do is do a little research as to never mind how many project management jobs were advertised yesterday but are such jobs attainable without nepotism being at work and you would have had your answer. Me judgmental? never. However you certainly are judgmental.

yfred I am not judgemental, i just do not believe in knocking someone, for asking a simple question of help. Just because i worded it differently to yourself, doenst warrant being critazied. Forums such as this, is all about reading between the lines on what they type and how they type it.

I too was a Project Manager, although for the development of major IT systems, and a PRINCE trainer. While I have never looked for work I would surely have noticed any demand in the 5 years I have been here. I have never heard of such a requirement ,and the state of many things here would seem to demonstrate that they do not understand the discipline of project management.
