Is Pernament residency being issued still???

Does anyone know if pernament residency is being issued by the immigration at the moment? Cause they have told me so many different stories, the latest is; They say that even though i have lived here for over 10 years under temporary residency they are not issuing pernament residency anymore for temporary residency holders, the only way you can get it is if you have a 6 year work permit or marry turkish cypriot?? Is this the case????

I don't think anybody here can advise you any better than the Immigration Department. If they are telling you they are not issuing permanent residency anymore then I guess they are not issuing permanent residency anymore. I think the BRS have some information about this on their website too.

I went on monday this week 7 previous stamps pernament residency YOK back next year more blood tests and another hoop to jump through no daubt.

I believe the matter is on hold pending the outcome of the talks - as simple as that. Same with citizenship. So all the expected happenings which were to give us security (such as citizen after 6 years) have all disappeared in a puff of insecure smoke.

Immigration is likely to shrug its governmental head and raise the eyebrows and click its tongue and the BRS only tell what they are told.



But, it is fairly obviously that they are NOT giving Perm. Residency to us 'yabanci' [- mainly I think because of the need to decide how tohandle the huge influx of mainland Turks which is causing such 'aggro' to the Greek Cypriots and any possible future solution.



I was due to file my papers, and got half way there, and have now abandoned the idea, as no doubt many of you will also do. I just hate feeling my life is just a Temporary one - don't you?

Was just going to write the same as message 8! Agreed, BUT promises are promises, and originally a lot of us believed the Government that we were welcome and through a 5 year route we could become citizens. Conned, that's what we were! But I am happy to accept the things I cannot change - otherwise we end up in the overcrowded local looney bin!

The TRNC has been a con from 1974 onwards IMHO.Massive amounts of publicity were aimed at South Eastern UK, and I am sorry to say " MANY" were drawn in by the promise of "CHEAP" Mediterranean Holiday homes...Now some are realising" Too Late "that there is No Such thing as a "FREE LUNCH! and they should have" SMELT THE RAT",Not there fault, they are victims of the corrupt estate and advertising agencies.Estate Agents (Failed Second-hand Car Dealers) are the tip of the iceberg,the root of the problem is in the fundamental governance of property issues in the TRNC!

I think things are on hold right now. i have heard some interesting stories in the last week or so, about some people being sent home. We will have to wait and see and i can't say anymore than that.

who was the poor guy spent his birthday in prison as he had a mix up and was 1 month late with his residency !!
