you would have to be a right fat b***ard to make that worth while. The Hilton at Manchester Airport do a Sunday brunch for £25. As much breakfast stuff you can eat, salads and roast meats with all the veg and the extras. Very good food but even thats a bit pricey I think. To make it worthwhile you'd have to have 2 full english breakfasts and 2 roast lunches, plus a full plate of salad and a few desserts. Mr Creosote springs to mind.

Ate there last week, superb food and service, excellent value at 50tl, diningroom full, but numbers will fall at 90tl especially when other top class venues offer even better value . Midsummer House and the House stand out.

harita, depends on the depths of your pocket I suppose. I know a certain hotel where I had to book in advance and pay 20 pounds a head just to have afternoon tea and I can honestly say it was worth it, maybe I will say the same once I have tried the Cratos, I certainly have enjoyed both the bar and the casino so far

It really depends on what the marketing strategy of the hotel is, if they are going up-market so be it but from previous posts/threads about this hotel it seems to be in limbo having yet to find an identity and where it's pitching in the market place. This is synonymous with typical Turk daft way of doing business & thinking! Richard

The Cratos is simply a fascade for "cleaning" money. Do you think they really care about filling the restaurant or bar? High rollers from Turkey- that's what its all about it!

Cyprus Harry! Correct Cyprus economy needs another 5 star hotel like a headache - when vurrently the other 5 stars would sell to first buyer at half the cost given half the chance. With all that haloobaloo going on, what most people do not know; hardly any of these hotels pay their electric or municipality bills! Wages are in arrears all the time and for every 5 leagal employees they employ another 10 woek illegally with no national insurance or graduate pension (at minimal wage) - usually mainlanders! They employ 15 managers for every area you can think of plus own electricians, accountants, plumbers (imported from Turkey), and after the first 6 moths of losing money, they realise they only need 3 of the buggers in Cyprus and sack the rest! I have seen the same happen with similar investments. Come March, Cratos will probably be offering rooms at half price! TRNC has no benefit from such investments. On the contrary they are a great strain on our economy.

jeannie you well know what i am talking about i think you choose not to understand big oz the reason they employ mainlanders who creatred and till this day fund the country is because the cypriots want to drive their mercs and work in goverment offices and do nothing all day they would not dream of doing such a job its beneath them only fit for mainlanders how shallow you are

It looks like a CARBUNCLE inside it is very plush and GRANDIOSE yet lacks FINESSE if as stated their target market is high rollers it makes no sense to have an IRISH bar in the lobby. On the plus side the casino is very well run the cards instead of chips is brilliant( in my opinion, you can still have them on here can you ?)

Silcuty21 - What a load of BS to come up with on a forum! (meddage 33) Dearest - I am talking from experience - you sre making statements you cannot support with anything tangable! How much do you know of Turkish Cypriot desire for work that you are making such crude allegations? You sound like one of Cratos employees... There are a lot of unemployed, well educated (mainly in UK) TCs who cannot even afford a bike! I have personal experience on what exactly goes on behind the scenes in such big organisations from abroad. And what kind of analogy is that: "TCs driving round in their big mercs"? They are the ones who have their own business probably. But how ignorant of anyone to claim every TC is doing that instead of working? Practically every employee at municipalities are yound TCs doing the waste collections. Almost all who work in government offices such as social services, tax offices, post offices are TCs. It was TCs who worked in the hotels until about 10 years ago...

silcuty21 .. I don't think you live here .. In winter when there are only the OAP's here .. The price will drop or there will be no-one there .. No I am not whinging .. Will spend our money elsewhere .. Not at the Cratos .. Last year we had 4 nights at the Malpas over Cristmas .. They realised to pack the place out was to give a good deal .. The hotel was full & over half was from the south .. Cratos won't realise this & as the Muslim population don't celebrate Christmas the place will be empty .. Or maybe there are a few rich Brits

big oz harita you know thats the truth the generation of today live off of mummy and daady and pranse around all day how many TC builders restaurants private sector workers are there ?? they mostly study at third rate universities and then think they know with their third rate graduate papers dont give the excuse the turks work cheaper and how many hotels were there 10 years ago and the ones that were around yes were run by tc and went under then sold on in regard to the malpas yes £99 thats great for you what about the hotel ask them unfortunatly they have no choice but to sell to oppotunist like you everyone knows the truth even you the mainlanders are the engine workforce in trnc reminds me of the racisim turks greeks indians pakistanis suffered when they came to england but time will turn things around it has started already and i hope they take over they deserve it more than mostly ungratful young TC who think they are owed everything sylv

proger1 why would i i am not against TC my boyfriend is TC its just the way they winge and moan it really winds me up most think they know it all and are hard done by at the same time based onn what i see and understand the mainlanders are the steam engine TC are not prepared to do anything apart from goverment jobs i still live in the uk i shop at sainsburys that suites me but if harrods opend up in mancs and offered introductory offers i would not winge when they are over some on the board feel the cratos must give them half price all the time, like get real stick to what you can afford dont go beyond your means just to keep up with the jones which is rampant in trnc infact an epedemic if show offs and name droppers when it come to most TC its true they are owed as well they all want goverment jobs like the famous Robert Maxwell said the "gravy train has hit the buffers" thats what is happenin now

still sounds like a grudge to me but I am only reading the posts, I really don't care either way, I can afford it although the wife would rather I didn't spend that much money. Just not sure what the price of a buffet at a hotel has to do with your impression of the board members or TC's compared to Turkish mainlanders. Not really looking for an explanation either but that is up to yourself.

The target market of any 5 star hotel are those who can afford it, Brits included, they don't care about nationality, just ability to pay. If you are Martian and park your spaceship in the car park, if you have the money, you are welcome. Thank goodness, I cannot afford it. A fool and their money are soon parted.

Cratos [Greek] Cratos ("strength") is the personification of strength and power. He is the brother of Nike, Zelus and Bia. Like his other siblings, he is a constant companion of Zeus. Ah, now I see the connection between the hotel's name and their cage fighting publicity stunt!

Heard this from a TC friend yesterday, the truth of this I know not as I've yet to go there! The Hotel build in excess of $250 million The Hotel is on a 49 year land lease from the Government The interior though plush is decorated in a very gauche/crass manner of taste The Hotel employs 300 staff And that's from a local! Somehow the figures don't stack up Richard

Go there Binsley then comment. The Hotel was owned by the Swiss-hotel group but they stopped serious work after the 2004 Anan plan was rejected, this Turkish group bought the "remnants"

Richard Nearly all beaches and coastline property (exception is those wholly Turkish title in 1974 - like the Celebrity Hotel) have to be leased and 49 years is the max. But that doesn't mean they can't get an extension of the lease. The land before any beach can we bought outright.. I would imagine the land where the hotel is built has been bought and not leased... but maybe not.
