A friend of mine told me when he came to North Cyprus this summer he was using his Satnav on the Iphone and that it worked for both sides of the Island. I have not downloaded it as I dont really need it but it is called IGO and can be downloaded free from this link http://apptrackr.org/ you need to search for IGO europe. This is a free download for anyone who has a jailbroken iphone

Any GPS will work anywhere on earth but less accurate near the poles since all the satellites go round the equator. The important thing is what kind of map is available for the region and how much in detail. I bought my GPS from ERANAV which is advertising above this thread and I am absolutely thrilled with it. I cannot say anything about the south side but it includes all the street names in the north and very easy to use. A couple of days ago I wanted to visit a friend who stays in Catalkoy and it was my first time. I set off from Alsancak and my gps directed me through Ozankoy village to my destination. I think it was a very good shortcut. ismet

Turbo as far as I am aware you do not need data or a telephone signal to get it to work. You download it onto your iphone and use it like you would a TomTom. Its a stand alone navigation. Nicolabs the maps are not already built into the phone I think you are referring to the google maps which is automatically installed on the iphone. Hal9000 if you have a jailbroken iphone you do not need to buy it. The link I have given you lets you download it for free.

Thanks Ataturk, good to know,. Nicolab as for the "maps, yes it is free but you need internet access to pull them up or locate you. It wont work without internet.

ataturk, I have done the jailbreak and also you require to set up a thing called appsync to enable cydia to load the IGO software to the phone when connected but my company server does not allow me to download from hotfile or mediafire and the software I downloaded from appscene is for Romania. Would you be able to find out which one your friend downloaded please Paul

Smity dont know what you are talking about but the majority of software navigation doesnt need the internet to work as you load the software onto the iphone and then use the gps again on the phone. You dont even need a sim in the iphone to use the navigation, so no data charges Proger are you able to use a proxy server

ataturk, they are way ahead of us on that, they use a system called Check Point Security softwarewhich so far I can't find a way around but I am still trying, the software isn't of use to me at the moment so it isn't an issue, it seems to work but the only map I have is of Romania so I am sure when I get back I can get the correct software.
