Hi all

Having been going to the TRNC for over 10 years & seen the steady rise of the price of tobacco and cigarettes can anyone provide any info on what the average prices for 50g x 5 on Golden Virginia or just pack prices as I will be travelling back to the Kyrenia area on November 7th for 2 weeks ?

Also where would be the best place in and around Kyrenia to purchase this if possible as I know you guys are very knowledgeable in this respect.

Kindest regards and all the best to you all

Keith, if tobacco is priced the same as cigarettes, you will find that wherever you go, they are all

the same price. If you fly in to Ercan, they're cheaper at the duty free as you land.

Silk cut are 5.50tl per pack if that's any help.

Arrived home today and the price for Golden Virginia is virtually the same outside the airport or inside. It's 8.50tl per 50g pack or 4 Euros at the airport. Approx £3.50 per pack.

Hi all

Many thanks for the info guys & since there last year the prices have remained stable at least although you can only bring a very limited amount back due to the non EU status. I suppose I could always try and bring more than the allowance through customs LOL

I believe I can only bring back 250g of tobacco back ?

Cheers all

knightrider - well, you pays your money and takes your choice

I would imagine there are a few (sic) who 'takes their choice' when it comes to bringing over and above the allowance back into UK. Not that I'd be one of them, you understand

Hi J

Sorry for delay in replying to your msg & I am sure you are of the utmost upstanding moral person on this forum LOL but coming back through Stansted I have been stopped once on 9 previous visits to TRNC so as you say you takes your chance but it would be nice to be allowed to bring at least 10 packs home. I see the armed forces over there who can obviously travel from north to south with ease bringing hordes of stuff over & back to the UK ?

Wish I could do the same, oh well

This time, when we come through Stansted they had pulled over a young couple that had stacks and stacks of cigarettes in their two suitcases. It's just not worth it.

Hi Knightrider mess 8

I was in the mob till recently and was in Cyprus for a while - yep you are right to a certain degree some did bring thru more than the allowance and yep they did buy in the north, and yep it was easier to get them thru customs at the border as they were a bit more lenient with us, but not a lot, unfortunately Cyprus was not in the EC then so we took a a chance with maybe 600 or so ciggies, lets face it its not a lot to lose if youre rumbled so probably worth the risk, anyway its cheaper to buy at Ercan on the way in, I believe its about 26/30tl a carton of baccy

Good luck

Johndp re message 12.

Don't understand why you even bothering to think of the risk you run through Customs, when you are indifferent to the much greater risk to your health.

regards

Doug
