Well they have started to pull the miners out, first one out seems to be in very good shape, what a great rescue from this depth

Oakley of California have provided 33 pairs of sunglasses at $400 a pair to protect the miners' eyes. What an opportunistic bit of advertising as the world's eyes are on the rescue. Somebody in Oakley advertising department needs a pat on the back from the boss.

I am still finding it fascinating watching ... the third miner has just been brought up and the first three do seem to be in a remakable condition. There is a Bolivian to come up next I think, and then some of the men with medical problems.

Bunch of drama queens, they were actually arguing over who would be last up, after all, he's a record breaker (as Roy Castle would have said).

I can't wait to see the movie to see which one found god down there, which two found out they were gay, and which ones missus was shacked up with Leroy and Winston why he was down there.

It's true Puggy, they were arguing who would be last up. The coverage has filled BBC and Sky all day, so there was no air time for Mrs Shellby's cat who got stuck up a tree in Plymouth.

The minister for self attention has been on the TV all day patting himself on the back, 17 out in 12 hours - they have padded out the recovery to get more media coverage.

I wish every miner and their families well and I hope they get paid the overtime, and the rescuers have done a first class job, but the attention seeking mining minister seems to want the focus on himself.

I think its a miracle that they got out alive, some had only joined the company days before. I cant beleive the soladarity of these people. We are so lucky to have been able to see them, and them to see the outside world. I cant begin to imagine what 69 days trapped would feel like. After living in wales in the heart of the coal mines they would never have had the technology for a disaster like this, how its moved on.Who cares who is first or last just freedom and family. They are all heros xxx

I thought the second miner out was fantastic,he raced over to the crowd and got them chanting. However No 21 out,the one with the wife and mistress looked a little glum. His wife had told the press that she would not be there.Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

If you want to start a joke thread then you know the rules. People obviously are interested in the thread title and not about football jokes.

I am so very happy for the 33 miners and their families but does this now mean they will all be out of work.

After their ordeal I wouldn't think they would ever want to go back in to a mine. What an amazing feat it was to get them all out safely.

As they emerge one by one, you can't help comparing it to Big Brother.......All of them destined to be miner celebrities ..........

Of course it's wonderful all the miners got out safely, but if one bears in mind that the deepest mines can be 3km down, why dıd it take so long to drıll a narrow shaft a little over 600 metres down to them.

Click on the link http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2003/YefimCavalier.shtml to learn more about how deep some mines can be.

Moreover, deepwater drılling rigs can normally (BP excluded) operate in seas to a depth of 2400 metres and even then can drill down a further 9km into the earth.

Click on the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deepwater_Horizon_oil_spill for more info on deepwater drilling.

So, why did it take so long for this Heath-Robinson-like contraption to bring them up.

Something's not adding up ... at least for me it's not.

Maybe though, they had to drill carefully (slowly) to avoid another collapse ... or should I be cynical and say that the drilling wasn't for diamonds or oil.

Maybe I should just be happy they are all out safely.
