Home insurance 35% increase in premium

We have just been contacted by our insurance brokers, to tell us that the premium has increased by an incredible 35%, due to the flodd damamge earlier this, has anybody esle had this happen to them, and is it only the foreign owners of properties that are subject to these colossal increases.

Chelpet, I expect many share your concerns but the answer as to who is likely to pay is probably within the documentation to be held by the insurance companies and I guess they are not likely to broadcast the facts nor truth.

If they are brokers, then why don't they ring around and find you some better quotes?

Maybe they will then find Groucho's company.

Message for groucho if you do insurance on villas have put my email back on show if would like to send me details I will forward details of our villa if you fancy giving me a quotation, but insurance is due 20/10 so not a lot of time available
