I don't know if you have this in NC, but we have 2 roadside pickups every year, where council will pick up all your white good and anything that you want to leave out in the verge, they come along with the truck and bobcat and pick up all your rubbish, I can now tell you this is a throw away society, every third or fourth house you will see 50inch rear projector TVs, washing machines, driers,fridges, freezers, health equipement, the list just goes on, every type of TV you can think of, and they were only 3/4 years old, with the new plasma's and LCD TVs out now, everyone want's one and have no use for the old, you can now buy a plasma TV 50inch for around $750.00AU with a free wii, PS3, or blueray DVD, new washing machine 8kg $350.00, electrical goods are so cheap, a friend of mine was driving along the road and saw a 40inch plasma that was put out for collection with a note saying TV works don't plug it in for 24 hrs, and it came with the remote,worked great now in bedroom Robert

There are plenty of free roadside pick-ups here but only if you collect dead animals that have been deliberately run over.
