Hello all,

Shipping lots of stuff over next month, but not sure whether we should bother bringing a TV.

I'm aware duty would need to be paid on a TV, so is it still worth shipping one over. In England you can now get a 46" LCD for around £1000, would the overall cost with duty paid still be much less than what you could buy for in Cyprus?

Stevie-d

Were your TVs still boxed? What airport did you fly into? Did you have any problems with excess baggage etc.

Thinking of bringing a TV from UK myself

Hi Pools, CTA as most airlines will charge £6.00 per Kg. but I found CTA pretty good for instance if you are overweight by say 6 Kgs. no charge

Is there not a problem with receiving sound in TRNC on UK tvs? I appreciate that hooked up to satelite it shouldn't be a problem, but what about about terrestrial.

I have just brought over a container of furniture this included a new plasma 32inch tv repacked also a hi fi system all this was listed the total charge was 50 ytl approx £20 customs did not bother to open any boxes or check furniture or other goods . By chance my patio furniture was first out of the container the three customs officers were quite happy to sit down have a cold drink and watch the world go by no problems just repack new items .

harold,

on older tv's there was a problem with sound connecting to terrestrial tv. On most modern TV's there should not be a problem but no guarantee. Satillite is no problem.
