| At the moment there's a booth northbound. It is open from 8am to 5pm, and they hope to have some sort of out of office contact. Southbound it's not open yet, but should be in a few days. The opening times will be the same. I made a note of journey times and distances from central Girne, which might help those wanting to explore. >>>>>> |

The GC checkpoint is at the village boundry. last chance for fuel before Polis. Pomos 2h 27m/111Km. The journey from Kato Pygos to Pomos would be reduced from 28Km to about 5km, and the time from 45 minutes to about 15 minutes if the road through Erinkoy were to be opened Nea Dimmata 2h 47m/118Km Polis 3h 4m/123Km From Girne to the crossing point fas a journey of 81Km, taking 1Hr 42Min. On my return to Girne, I decided to try the southern route along the new Guzelyurt dual carriageway. | Got hit by the character limit here. The southern route was abviously faster, and with the better roads probably a saving on fuel. However, I was on the road at a quiet time of the day, and you could get well and truly held up in traffic at peak times. But certainly this route is worth considering for anybody living to the east of Girne. As a point of interest, the journey time to the Gonyeli roundabout was 1 h 15Min, about a third of the time via the southern motorway system. |
