Mike, give us a clue, let's see if we can guess what it may be. There is a song from 1929 that may fit "44" quite well although other versions of this have been recorded, right up to a version in 2006.

Well, it could be 'Singing in the Rain' ...(not that what's fallen here could count as rain) ...or, 'Ain't Misbehavin''...which might refer to the lack of corruption on the island (!)

Hi there - No it isn't 'Singing In The Rain' - most people will think 'Singing............' was first sung by Gene Kelly in 1952, but it was originally performed by Doris Travis in 1929. If you want a clue about tomorrows mystery song, then think 'children'. DJ MIKE

Pippie - well, you're only 34 years too early; it was released in 1968 (and, if anyone's interested, it was apparently Jimmy Saville's favourite song) Mike - no luck with the clue - any chance of another one please? J

Well, Boogie-Woogie Legend, Roosevelt Sykes had a hit in 1929 with '44' (Cyprus44?) .....I can't believe your playing that! PS He once asked me where he could find a Fish Shop in Bradford in 1965 ...but that's another story!

Hi Jeannie - two clues - the first one is a pre-world war II children's club - the second is a radio Luxembourg show. If you can't guess from that, then you'll have to wait and listen in to the show. And remember, I did say the song would make some of you cringe - especially the older one's of you who remember it DJ MIKE

Hi Jeannie and Branwell - did you guess the answers from my clues before tuning in to the show. Although the song goes back to 1929 - the Ovaltineys, who formed in the 1930's, sang it during that decade. The formed a world wide club called - 'The League of Ovaltineys' - to promote the sale of Ovaltine in the 30's. During the 30's they also had their own 30 minute show on Radio Luxembourg every Sunday evening, sponsored by the manufaturers of Ovaltine. For those who couldn't or forgot to listen in, the song was - 'Happy Days Are Here Again' by the Ovaltineys. DJ MIKE

Thanks for that PaulW. Were you cringing when you heard it? I've got one or two more that'll make you cringe as well. I may play them sometime or other on the show. Hey jock1 - why do you think I'm a DJ and not a singer. With a voice like mine I could empty the top deck of a bus in 10 seconds flat. DJ MIKE
