Can anybody please tell me if the pink fruit on the pepper trees here are in fact the same as the black peppercorns you buy when they are dried? They seem to have the same aroma but the flavour is quite mild - perhaps they mature when dried.

I read somewhere that they are actually the pink peppercorns that are used in cooking sometimes. Keep meaning to get one of the trees so I can use them for making pepper steak.

Hi, I think you are correct Laptamike. I have looked researched these trees on the internet now and they are pink peppercorns. They do not however turn into black peppercorns when dried as I had hoped but they do have culinary uses. They are used in Mallorcan cuisine.
