Can anyone give me some helpful advise about which products they use when washing their marble floors? I have tried general floor cleaner, washing up liquid, white vinegar and just plain old water but they all leave streak marks once the floor has dried. Any tips would be more than welcome.

I use nothing but a floor steam cleaner...... no streaks. We brought it from Uk 2 years ago. no soap of any kind. Prior I used Pronto floor clean especially for marble and granite. Used to get it in Tempo.

For goodness sake don't use Cillit Bang on any tough marks. I did and I've taken off the surface. You can see where I sprayed when the light hits it at the right angle!! It looks awful and I don't know what to do about it.

Sorry it will need re polishing..............the one I have came from Costco A steam mop elite , and was £50 best £50 I have spent. And can be got from Amazon along with the spare heads £10 for 4 they go in the wash. If you can go for the bigger one that has a triangular base gets into the corners better. It take a bit of time getting used to but worth the cost. weight wise its only about 2 kg....... you will be amazed how much crap you get off the floors. If you get one a tip is pre wet the pad prior to putting it onto the head. Sue

Thanks for that, Sue. Sounds good, especially as winter approaches with two large dogs walking across that marble floor!!

Hi Mary

Use "Cam Sil", its for windows, and one of those 'long mops" you can buy in any supermarked. I got the advise from Marmo, Lefkoşa, for my marble floor, and they are just as shiny and beautiful as after the polishing 2 years ago

Sorry if I sound dumb banjo, but do you use it in a bucket of water or just spray it on and buff it with the mop, as obviously when I use it on the windows I just dry it clean with kitchen towel.

Thanks Rachel

Hi Banjo,

thanks for the advise, do you dilute the product or use it neat, does it leave the floor slippery? Mikey has bought a JML steam cleaner so I shall try that out soon.

Thanks for all the tips and advise fellow 44 forum users.

Our marble polisher advised us to just use water / mop.

H2o steamer very light and vey useful to have around the house

from thames direct or qvc (look up on line)

this is however my second one the first due the lime in water reduced its output to 10%

so use distilled water and be safe

my first one was hardly used either I was unlucky no matter what i used to clear the lime it cleared and so using my second one

ours got gummed up, but I have a very useful husband who decided that he would dismantle it. As the steamer had stopped steaming, and we had been using distilled water we thought that we had nothing to loose. He did a fab job and it works better now than when it was new...........Sue
