Laws that people perceive to be a bit silly are often overlooked. In the UK as well as here in NC, the smoking ban is often ignored. Licensing laws in the UK are ignored (after time for the locals AND the police)

My take on this is from the other direction... only disobey laws when you think they are fundamentally wrong and go against your belief in what is right and proper... Given this focus, which laws should be broken?

I am a smoker, yet the smell of cigs, from the next table bothers me when I am eating, I would not light up if people are eating close to me. A bar is a different story.

Societies that are emerging need strong laws to build a base on which to develop, A`lack of rules and structure keeps them stunted. More stable countries need to be looser with their laws and to allow a fuller expression. The same can be said for individuals. Children and teenagers need laws to help their frontal cortex develop which will give them the control , for example being able to save money etc, other wise they live purely for the moment

Yes -once it is the law then you must expect to be penalised if you are caught disobeying it & ignorance of it or disagreement with it is not an excuse.
