I can understand it is easier for them but most disappointing, even Windows in Girne have now gone over to "Fat Free Crinkle chips" horrid.

Re : Msg1, Why do restaurants serve chips at all? I don't eat chips. But there are usually no alternatives on the menu. It's a shame that with such lovely local potatoes, all they come up with are chips, chips and more chips!

If you go to the 'flour' thread you'll know where to buy it, dusting slightly the frozen chips before frying, in time to make the sauce from the 'gravy' thread which will make every restaurant owners posting very happy if they can actually train their staff to do likewise! Madness! Richard

Richard...... Salad cream or Mayo, Ketchap or Ketchup, Heinz or Pinar, Quality or quantity? Is it cheap-as-chips? That is the real question.

hiya blackie, i know. I eat so many of them. Tonight i had some pembrokes brought by a lovely customer. I just love my spuds. Being Irish and it was our staple diet for many a year potatoes we mixed anything we could get with them. Now top restauarants serve champ, colcannon, potch etc. Hey love the spuds in wales espically pembroke are really good. The Potatoes here this year have been hit by a blight as the tomatoes have. My two favourites in the world. Mind you I do not have a swetet tooth in my head and lived on walkers crisps but i now hate the crisps here, strange how your tastes change. I could live on jacket potatoes (no gravy) , but once i get back to the uk a smoked salmon sandwich from the M&S outlet on the motorway and a bag of walkers x
