Most people buy Cyprus Today or the other English print and read these stories themselves, so why use this space to repeat something people will have just just read. And yes I know I am going to get told about this thread being useless, but it isn't taken from todays paper

Not everyone buys that rag at an over inflated price of 2TL though the odd article can be of interest. Richard

Lord Jim, promoting Nigels board is not a good idea on 44. Still I suppose it is the only way to get people to go on it, at present their are four people looking and nobody posting. You, oh sorry I mean Nigel got banned for pushing his board on here.

It is useful and interesting to debate some Cyprus Today articles. Posting the text promotes such debate and ensures all C44 members (including those in UK et. al.) know the published 'facts' before commenting.

It gives them something to post about without having to think of something original for themselves, makes them feel like part of the community. If you really want to comment on newspaper articles, why not use the comments available on the papers web site. try the North Cyprus Free Press site, I am sure Malcolm would appreciate people commenting on his articles there instead of on here but yet again, that might just be me.

I guess it takes me a couple of minutes to read what is of interest to me then all day to complete the simple crossword puzzle. Keeps me out of mischief

That 'rag' as our Maori friend calls it has been 2TL for over four years If inflation had effected it I suspect it would cost a fair bit more. The papers columnists do a reasonable job on the local front And the crosswords keep the wife quiet for hours (she slaughters the sudoku) Whats not to like?

What about the fast rising Star? For me it is good if people write extracts from papers on here, because we buy only English ones such as Telegraph and Mail, so unless local stuff is posted here, how can people such as myself get to know what people are thinking, and read a good old discussion. So, keep it going, lads and lasses. I am not moaning about it, but happily informed by you all.

This is a community of sorts (OK we do have the odd nutter on the bus) and communities like to discuss 'stuff'. The simple answer to the question is, if you want to know what other people think about something you have to pose the question.. Referring to or posting a clip from the UK news, World News, local paper or UK national paper draws attention to the subject you are wanting to discuss.. It works most of the time... Of course we do have those who post bogus rubbish just to be disruptive or to try and drive a wedge between factions of the membership when we get too cosy....
