| I have long searched for medieval remains in North (Turkish Cypriot) and South (Greek Cypriot) Nicosia and I think I have located them all. Unfortunately, due to the political situation, I was not able to come close to all of them. For insatnce, I couldn't inspect and describe like I would have liked to do the small, interesting Orthodox church of St George (Ayos Yeorgios or Georgios), situated between the Flatro (Sibeli) bastion and St. Kassianos Church. Until a visit to the UN Buffer Zone, as a guest of the UN Press and PR department, made the impossible reality. I would like to express my gratitude again to the UN - great hosts! - for the opportunity to see what few have seen since the unfortunate events of 1974. Let's hope that one day common sense will prevail and everybody may see the medieval treasures of old, walled Nicosia in peace. Click the (shortened) URL and choose 1: Churches/Mosques, 2: Ayos Georgios and 3: text: http://is.gd/gb9uy |

| Thank you for your kind words, lulubell! When I see how few people opened the [UN] threads I wonder why I bothered to do all the work. On the other hand I know from support in the threads and very kind emails, mainly from people who did their military service in Cyprus and/or in the Buffer Zone, that some were pleased with the pictures. Maybe next time, to attract more viewers, I should call the thread "Karaoke in the Buffer Zone"... |

| Only a suggestion Hans as the layout of your site is completely up to you but would it be possible to add some thumbnails that direct to the main pictures. I can get around your site by clicking on the hyperlinked words but it would be a little easier with a thumbnail of the gallery or even an icon. No offence intended, I know you have done your web site from scratch and developed it yourself without taking the easy way I did and used templates, I obviously don't have your patience. I also ask because my work server is so slow that it takes forever to download the full size pictures and if I could see a smaller version it would entice me to open them more to see a larger version. | RE msg 7, Proger1: (...) it takes forever to download the full size pictures and if I could see a smaller version it would entice me to open them more to see a larger version. (...) => Done (if this is what you mean): http://is.gd/gbbc2 . I'll also give each picture its own page (and link the small pics in the text pages to them), which makes downloading the full sized pics faster. P.S. Ask your employer for a faster work server... |

| Perfect, thank you Hans, I was about to say it didn't look changed but I remembered to refresh my browser. I have pleaded with my employer but they keep saying next years budget, maybe they actually mean next year this time. Thanks again Hans. |
