Do the ferries run to Lebanon or Syria and has anyone done this trip, I cant find anything about it on this forum, heard a lot and watched a few programs on TV about Lebanon, and the place looks good with all the cafe's and restaurant's and lot's of interesting places to visit, so do you think it would be ok for a holiday, it say's that it is quite expensive now, but we would love to visit.

Hi Robert,

There was a ferry running out of Famagusta to Syria and the Lebanon during the summer. Have you tried typing the information into google? Maybe a trip to Famagusta will give you the information you require, or some travel agents may have the information.

Tried to google it but not getting the information I want, everything about going to Turkey from NC, but nothing going to Lebanon, just thought I would ask, I only asked because there was a doco about Lebanon on TV the other night and it looked very interesting.

And so is Syria...Aleppo and Kerak de Chevaliers for example. Is the temple at Baalbeck in Lebanon still a no go area for Westerners...I heard at one time that Hizbollah were in the area!

When did the ferry to Lebanon start? There was talk of one starting but I heard it never got 'off the ground'! Details please as I really wish to visit.

It sounds an excellent trip and I hope someone is able to provide a positive answer to the original question and also advise about the level of comfort on board.

Baalbek has been open to everyone for at least the last 10 years.

Hezbollah are a political party in Lebanon the Becka valley is a wonderful place to visit as long as the neighbors aren't flexing thier bullying tactics.
