I intend to take my olive oil back with me to the UK. I fly Ba from the south. I have checked on customs website and it is ok to import oil into UK from another EU country. But have any of you experienced problems with the border crossing? I dont want my liquid gold taken away from me.

How much are you taking? make sure it is not in hand luggage, they will not allow that.

Should be ok, hope it does not leak!

This thread is worth a look at, also may be a good idea to call BA if you are taking 15 ltrs

Enchanted, as a matter of interest, how many trees do you have to get 15l of oil?

Well, my first tree has yielded 60kg, and will probably give me 20% ie about 12 LT.

My tree are quite big, and I have 12 of then......so enough oil to fill the bloody swimming pool I should think.

To be fair, its a very good year for olives, and I have spent alot of time and effort pruning my trees.

I absolutely love my olive trees, and the oil is wonderful. So nice to give as presents to my friends and family

Thanks very much for the advice, been wondering if it's worth taking ours down to the press (got 3 trees, 2 are big, other got damaged by the builder so not seen any olives on it yet)

Buy one of the heavy duty yellow plastic containers with the blue lid and pack in your 'hold' luggage. Your weight allowance might be in question but that's down to you and the carrier.
