Fingers crossed the proposed changes apply to UK citizens and not just UK residents.

Well it is only proposals at the moment but I think from reading it that most UK ex Pat residents of TRNC would qualify on these criteria

"The payment would be based on citizenship or residency, with British citizens or anyone who has been living in Britain for a fixed number of years qualifying."

About time this was taken on board, and can we suggest that the illegals get it too, and the moment they can calim £250 per week and extra for their partner. This without paying a penny into the coffers. Sue

Need to remember it is just a proposal and if passed would not come into force probably around 2015 to allow implement of change !!

My OAP isn't due until 2015 and, as I haven't enough contributions to qualify ATM, this is very good news.

I have a future estimate statement from Pensions Dept which gives future combined pension for me and wife of £163 per week

Please tell me where we can apply for the £250 or go back and ask the friend of an aunt who had a neighbour who had a son knew someone who worked in the Pensions Dept who said....... Would that be the same place that pays £350 a week the to the unemployed .

Zookeeper.

Its only early stages and might never happen. The problems so far from the press are, What about those with SERPS conts, at the moment these conts are added to the pension ,but if its a flat rate £140 ?? Also it is said that if/when it comes into play it will not be retrospective ,you could have paid full conts and retire on the day before the measure comes in and get £97 but someone who pays no or little conts but retires a day later than you gets £140.

So few things to be ironed out in the next 4 years ,but the idea is sound.

I know the proposals are in the early stages Girne 29 and there is a lot to sort out (see attached link. I wonder what the situation would be if someone delayed claiming a pension until the proposed new flat rate was in force.

Message 9. Someone e mailing you from the DWP revealing to you information regarding someones claim is against Security rules and Data Protection and find it very hard to believe that someone is doing this, if they are, they should not be working there and I hope that security finds this person.

Also, someone using the phrase "illegals" is not a term that I have heard used in my experience of working for the DWP, or now Jobcentre Plus. The way you have phrased the the first line of your sentence is the give away to what you are saying is not based on fact.

Great news I think not....This would mean that my lazy ex-sister-in-law who has never worked a day in her life will end up receiving the same as me, ! and all the others like this...I gave the care sector 35yrs of my life to be left in severe back pain for the remainder of my life too. And it looks like I will not be receiving a state pension until age 65yrs. The whole DWP is a joke..for those that worked hard. My husband was given £6 per week a few years back when he made his fist ever claim, You know how that made us FEEL !...Now they are saying that even for my children who work very hard, pay child care that enables them to continue to work will receive the same state pension as some girls they went to school with that sit at home with 4 kids by different men that never work...will. yes will receive the same pension amount...Sick and angry by the whole nine yards..YOU BLOODY WELL BET I AM..

Nice one..Thanks a bunch UK..Spider,X

Also received some news today I had an appeal going on with the NHS Pensions that I had paid into..They declined my application for my pension rights at age 55yrs as they feel the ''Arthritis of the spine..'' Is not a permanent disability...Maybe they feel LIKE over night it will go AWAY...therefore I could retrain and continue to work...Ya right, like not just sit on my ass claiming like some who get everything..I paid into this darn pension..and into my state one too....

Oh well Mr Spider shall we go back and work till we or at least I drop ! Wish I knew how the hell all the milkers get away with it ! anyone have any comments please with the sort of work i could retrain and do...In constant pain.walk with a stick and my well need a wheel chair ! I think after starting work age 15yrs I have done my ducking bit to get my pension rights... Spider,X......too right PS..should I send it back for a third appeal ? .

Having read a couple of good articles on this subject recently, I got distinct impression that the proposed flat-rate amount of £140 pw for all pensioners is only likely to be of benefit to those who are aged 66 (future retirement age cap for men & women) and over at the time the new State Pension is actually introduced.

2015 is the earliest time for this revised benefit to take effect but many pundits believe it could take longer, even into 2020. Its all soundbites at the moment and public feedback data to be processed, plus giving the govt. departments time to really thrash out the figures. So - nothing's definite at this stage and one would have to be at least 66 years old as and when the new benefit comes into force.

Hi spider,

I totally agree with you, I am so mad about this as well. I am already retired but I will not gain from the increase in pension to £140. Having worked since age 15 and paying full contributions all my working life, I will have to watch whilst people who have never worked a day in their lives will benefit from this. Somebody needs to start a petition now at the injustice of it.
