My parents visited said establishment the other day and were served off sausages. When they told the guy who was serving he couldn't care less. As I wasn't there I can't comment further.

Well, all that I can tell you of is my experience of having taken my family there for Sunday Roast Lunch yesterday. The three-course lunch was amazing value, for 20 TL, and also of very good quality. The service was superb, especially considering how busy they were at the time.

rowlo, you could always have sausage and mash rounds ours sometime, I make my own sausages from fresh pork. ;-) I've got nothing against JK's. We went and had a very nice lunch a few weeks ago, thats why my parents went back. Just dissapointed on this occasion.

Have had many lunches in JK's and never had a complaint other than the norm in NC, too much and hate to leave any food on my plate. Did your parents say at the time? Did they consider it might not have been off just flavours in the sausages they were not used too. I love most sausages but hate cumberland and some of the specialist ones sold in the supermarkets in the UK. Sorry that your parents had a meal they did not enjoy, I am sure Darren will try to fix it. I do hope if your folks are on holiday they enjoy the rest of their stay.

boglefan, they both agreed the sausage was off. My dad will eat just about anything, even slightly out of date sausages. As I said in msg1 they did tell the person serving. (Whoever the man was) As regards to not liking certain sausages from supermarkets, you should never buy say for example Cumberland sausage from a supermarket and expect it to taste anything like the real thing. I was born in the Lake District so I know what it should taste like, supermarket 'copies' are no where similar. I'm sure it's the same with other specialist sausages. My dads on a mini break here so thanks, just hope the weather holds out for him ;-)

Could have been the prat of the waiter's ignorance and attitude and nothing to do with the owners or the chef. Mistakes do happen in the kitchen but should be negated by well trained 'front of house' staff. Hard one to call not being there yourself in person. Richard

Message 1............What a pathetic post !!!! You weren't there but you can post crap like that on here. Maybe there was a spice or something in the sausage that made it taste different . Why tarnish a restaurants reputation on here say ?

arrry. There is one thing between having a different spice in a sausage and it actually being off. Off meat can contain botulism, e.coli and other nasty such things. Thanks for bringing it to the top again by the way

Off is off, spiced not to ones taste is another matter. This is a case of a rouge sausage in TRNC, not a boutique sausage shop in the West End of London which specialise in all sorts of exotic flavours! Richard

arrry, meat, especially processed meat like sausages take on a 'certain' taste than I can't describe when they are off. Not everyone can recognise the taste. I can, my parents can, I'm sure Richard can. Perhaps you can't. Richard can explain better I am sure.

Now maybe I am jumping to worng conclusio here but isn't the main point of the post that Mike's mum and dad both foud something wrong with their meal and reported it to the staff but nothing was done. Mike is reporting secondary information but he was honest about that part. Richard is defending Mike's statements even though neither of them were there, arrry is getting stick for asking a question that I too would be asking, how do you know when a sausage is off, not saying it isn't possible but in my experience, meat is detectable before cooking for being off but rarely afterward especially with some of the stronger sopices that are added and some people don't recognise the taste of. Here is the crunching question, given that JK's is rather popular and I would imagine so is the sausage meal, why is it that nobody else has mentioned anything. Every other post about restaurant criticism attracts both agreements and disagreements, here nothing, strange !!

Mike please go in and speak to Darren. I am sure it was a one off. Remember in the heat over in NC thngs go off very quickly - eg buying fresh milk and before you get it back to the fridge it is totally curdled. Agree that it should not have happened but please give them the chance to find out where the problem was, and the bar person involved asked why they dismissed the complaint. I am sure Darren would like to find out where the problem originated from and in the future make sure it never occurs again.

my post now is totally off topic, lilli, botox is from a form of e.coli injected into the area you want to get rid of wrinkles. It paralyses the muscles for several months so that no wrinkles show up. Too many injections kill you. Hope you manage to get your flights sweetheart. xxxxxxxxxx

I give up! Sausages, synonymous with the 'traditional English breakfast' comprises of rusk and pork 'sausage' meat (stuffing for the Christmas turkey) which can have added herbs at the discretion of the butcher/maker. The so called sausages bought in the TRNC supermarkets consist of reconstituted beef product. Richard

Mikelapta......your original post was " My parents visited said establishment the other day and were served off sausages. When they told the guy who was serving he couldn't care less. As I wasn't there I can't comment further."...... why didn't they complain to the management ??? Ask to see the manager and don't leave until you do and definitely don't pay the bill till you do !! What you don't do is make a slanderous statement , like you have after the event on a forum . As i said typically English !

If you don't like my original post why do you keep bringing it to the top for everyone to see????? If you just let it go it will slide into oblivion very soon unless someone decides to pull you up on your racist remarks....... |

tootie, I totally forgot about it. Was meaning to say earlier if you had bothered to read any of my previous posts you would know that. Why bother saying about a bad experience in a bar or restaurant on here if you just get shot down. Perhaps I'll not bother posting things like this in the future and a load of you moaners can come down with food poisoning. If I (or my parents) have a very nice meal somewhere I post to say it was so. If I (or my parents) don't have a nice meal somewhere, I'm not allowed to post????????????????????????????????????????? PATHETIC

Mike, I think a little too much was made of the sausages, personally I would be interested to find out if the person they complained to was the owner and if so the doing nothing about it would not be a good customer realtions move however I doubt it was him, I could be wrong though. Someone is always going to say that you should tell the manager but if that was the manager then perhaps you did the right thing, unfortunately I think it will always look bad when you are posting a complaint for someone else no matter how well intentioned it is and the places in NC are so easily destroyed by bad comments whether truethful or not it can appear harsh. Stick to the sausages you know at home and drink alcohol while you are out, that is my system I still end up feeling sick but if I complained about it to early they might stop serving me
