Just received notification from Turkish airlines that my departure from Stansted in April school holidays is leaving an hour early which is great. However, for the return from Ercan the flight changes and the earlier flight goes back to Heathrow instead of Stansted. If I decide to take a late night flight to Stansted that will mean a 9 hour overnight stay in the departure lounge at Istanbul. Not a very good PA job here

I believe you will be flying Anadolu Jet now not Turkish airlines, this is Turkish Airlines budget arm, it is fine but cramped.

Why not fly out and back to Heathrow. I find the 11:35 out arriving Ercan 19:55 and the 09:45 back arriving 15:15 are very civilised times. They also bumped me from the Stanstead flights in November and changed me to the above Heathrow flights without any fuss.

Ian

Indicate to them that they are in breach of contract and threaten them with a CCJ or reasonable financial compensation. A letter to the travel section of most Saturday/Sunday rags might do it. I cannot understand their mentality given the amount of money they are throwing at BBC World & CNN, 'Globally Yours, T.A.' !

I was told this yesterday and was offered a full refund. I cancelled our flights for September because we have 2 babies with us and 9 hours is just toooooooooo long. Now booked again with Pegasus. They were £200 dearer overall but worth it to get home asap

Another way. Count the days they have held your money then work out the interest rate you're going to charge them equivalent to £200 for the duration that they have been 'playing' with your money!

I don't see how they will give you compensation. Wish we could though

I have found it is no good trying to phone or email. I went to the desk in the airport and waited while it was sorted, as I happened to be flying out of Stanstead an few days after they notified me. I know that is not easy unless you live close by or are passing through but might ber worth a try.

We booked 2 months ago, not had any info from TA ?

When they change times, we usually get an emai,l so not sure if our flights have changed also?

Anyone have any info?

Booked 17/04/11 - 02/05/11 Stanstead - Ercan

dept 12:30 arriv 18:10

dept 08:25 arriv 11:30

Were these the original times? or earlier flight times have changed?

Cheers

I suppose that now TA have taken over the CTA contract they feel they can act like them and care not one iota for the passenger!

I phoned Turkish Airways to ask if there was any way of changing our return flights and they told me then.

LL,

Read your post earlier. "You were informed yesterday." Was it by email?

LL

Anyone have any idea when TA is likely to inform ALL passengers?

Easter is popular time, thats why we booked EARLY like you LL.

Prices are going to be double by the time they inform me!

Hi Everyone

I was notified by email today. I did not want a 9 hour wait in Istanbul to get back to Stansted

Good news is that they have put me on an overnight flight from Heathrow the day before and landing before I was suppoosed to take off from Stanted. Hope you understand! Spent over an hour on the phone speaking with 3 different people but well worth it. That gives me an extra day in the sun on my favourite island.

Dick thansk for your advice but will pass on it. You are probably going to tell me the Kiwis are going to get a grand slam of wins in the autumn internationals, No Hope wait till you get to Cardiff!!!

No it wasn't by email. I phoned them to ask if we could change our return date and was told 'No but your flights have changed anyway' !!!

They have said that I will receive a full refund though. I managed to rebook with Pegasus albeit £200 more. Doesn't help if you don't have the money to pay for new flights and wait until you are refunded with the old ones though! Over £1300 we are waiting to be refunded now

Hi LL,

Thanks for the info, in TRNC at the moment so will have to wait until I get back next week. Can't understand why they are leaving it so late to inform people.

First time i've flown with them, to be honest they were good, plenty of leg room, cold meals were OK and all transits Instanbul, Ercan were good along with luggage in Ercan when we got off.

I had heard they were better than Pegasus and I too have never flown with them plus they were cheaper than Pegasus. Having two of our grandchildren flying with us (ages 2 and 11 months) we thought it would be a better idea to be able to get off the plane at Istanbul and let them have a bit of space so I was quite pleased to have booked with them.

To have to hang around for 4 hours on the outgoing flight was bad enough but 9 hours with babies is just not on. I don't think I will book with them again. I looked today on their website and it still said the original flight times so they hadn't even updated the online timetables at 10am this morning.

Not a very good advert for them is it?

LL,

Have you thought about flying into Larnaca from Heathrow?

No I haven't. We are only 30 minutes away from Stansted and I have never liked the idea of travelling into Larnaca. We only paid £80.98 for most of our flights this year and I booked loads of them (48 in total) with Pegasus so I never thought of Larnaca as an option. I will look into this in future though.

£80.98 can you sort me out at those prices. lol

Transfers from Larnaca £25 each way if you book a car for your stay. 1hr pyla crossing 1hr 1/2 the other way. We are from South Wales so have a 5-6 hr coach trip before the flight. This time we had b&b but it was still hard. Stanstead is the only place we can get a good price, other airport £££ too much. It looks like it will have to be Larnaca from now on as the wife hates the travelling anyway. We could book from Cardiff but need a 2nd bank loan to pay!
