Turkish Cyprus ambassador donates $176,916 for flood victims

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to Islamabad Mustafa Ebran on Wednesday presented a cheque amounting to $176,916 as a donation on behalf of the government of TRNC for the relief of flood victims.



Ebran called on National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lt Gen (r) Nadeem Ahmed at his office.



The ambassador conveyed his condolences and sympathies on behalf of the government and people of the TRNC to the bereaved families over the losses incurred in the wake of the recent flood disaster in Pakistan. He said that the campaigns for collecting donations were ongoing and the people of TRNC were contributing generously towards the campaigns, staff report.

I thought Turkey was the only place that recognises the TRNC as far as diplomatic relations go!

See here for the story of the recognition struggle which still goes on. At one stage Pakistan was going to recognise the TRNC until Washington put pressure on them to withdraw this. Explains why we only have Pakistani restaurants and not Indian.
