If that's what you all think then go back to Britain and free up Girne carpark.

I rented (it was cheap then). I came here because of the istanbul earthquake in 1999. I wanted to sleep again. I'd been coming here for years anyway, and I spoke Turkish, and after spending so many years in Turkey, it was nice to live in a place with a culture that was 'more comfortable, more educated and less blinkered'. I was offered a job by one of the unis before I decided to move here so I just flew here with my 2 cats and carried on working! This place is the only place I would ever choose to live. It is perfect. However, if Turkey's influence becomes too great, I will not stay. I do not want to ever live in 'Turkey' again.

Take notice of msg 10.

It is coming from none-TC/CT who has been there, done that and got the T-shirt as well.

I know now there is at least one person that understands where WE come from.

Re: Msg 10, 11,

Unfortunately, I think it is "too great" already and irreversibly so.

same as pugwash....... msg 5....... didn't think if it was cheap or not. Bought because of the location, the good build and it was what we wanted , owner had the kocan , couldn't have done with the hassle of a new build.

Martin get real, if you are from RoC that is a bigger shith@le all round,

Yes plenty to do but it is still the paradise that the RoC lost and are still furious about, as the south is such a a dump. Bit of a bummer that they lost the nicest part of the island !

daughter came on holiday she loved it

I came on holiday and loved it

after several trips because we loved it, we decided to purchase in 08,also because my In Laws were Turkiskh Cypriots it seemed a good enough reason. I did not buy it because it was cheap and had a basic idea from relatives that there were issues pending but assumed exchange land meant that particular property had permission to sell and me to buy ,had I known the risks as I know today, I would not have purchased, however done is done, and late last year went to larnaca with my wife and obtained her parents birth certificates and registered them in the North and got my wife and daughter their kimlit cards. and late last year transfered the property to my wife's name only and immediately got the title deeds in the nick of time as my builder went into liquidation and avoided any memorandums as some of my neigbours have sadly. So the next step is whatever happens, and if I lose my property it is I to blame and bear the debt

Hi kate we bought the villa all completed and ready ,our builder tash (Greatstone)moved into the last one in lapta oct 07 and put it on the market in apr08 due to a cash flow,Peter from Unwins (now northcove)then called me in the Uk to rush and view before it went on the market. So there was nothing to do except pay and move in if we were happy to which we did.i dont think I would have bought off plan then or now unless it was in a complete state or abouts. At first we fell in love with an apartment in karakum sea front, after viewing and paid a deposit ,they called me in the Uk to say that the apartment was already sold!!since they had my deposit Peter made that call as he felt guilty about the mistake and assured me that tash's villa was not to be missed so I flew out again and decided it was luxury enough to purchase less a pool. But I never thought for once about property price comparisons with the south .I would still be waiting today for permission to purchase had i not do the above

You obviously have not spent time in the different locations in the South.

Not sure how you can say it is a dump.

I would like to ask what I consider to be a simple question.

Why does it seem that if you live in/like NC you must automatically dislike everything/everyone in ROC? We have a holiday home in TRNC but that does not automatically assume that everything/everyone in ROC is awful, surely?

I appreciate that this applies in a vice versa situation

That is so true. I have lived in North Cyprus and it was not for us so we moved to the South it is perfect for us. We have found people from both sides nice as each other.

We bought because of the location. We can wake up to the view of beautiful mountains and the sound of the sea. Pure heaven!

Temporary loss of sanity and paying for it now. Nice location - shame about the administration.

It was my hubby who always wanted to return to his country,it took me over 25 years to agree but i believe if we had moved here earlier it would have been so much harder for us. i think we came at the right time in our lives as our kids never wanted to come but they know if ever they do want to move over our door is always open to them

had the same weather as other Medi places but at what at the time was cheaper prices both in property and living costs. Proved to be more expensive in the long run,but at least the weather remains the same

I suffered a laps in concentration, thankfully I came to my senses before I went near any Estate Agents and handed over good money for badly built, sub-standard,properties with dodgy deeds,,It was a close call....however the majority of the locals are great people with a good sense of humour, especially when you consider the difficulties they endure as a Nation.....

Came on holiday a few times at different times of year, met some great people and made firm friends. Wanted to move from UK and all in all felt this was the place meant for us.
