I regularly visit the world famous medieval monuments in Northern Cyprus (like the former, Lusignan built) Cathedrals in Famagusta and Nicosia) to check and photograph if any repairs are made - or that time, lack of maintenance and neglect have their destructive, unhindered course. Unfortunately it's usual bad news I report on my web site, but this time I found some (though small) good news! When I noticed the deplorable state of the North exit/entrance of the Selemiye Mosque in 2005 (Nicosia: originally constructed during 1209 and 1228 as the Saint Sophia Cathedral. The Kings of Cyprus were crowned here until the Venetians took control of the island in 1489. This ancient building is the chief mosque in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) I feared the worst for the future. But! Almost a miracle! Check it here: http://is.gd/gctxf

All credit to you Hans! Hopefully, when I am next visiting, I may have some more time free to devote to exploring the sights of Kibris, rather than to clearing drains, et cetera. You may not receive a lot of responses to your posts on this forum, but I'm sure that your continuing efforts to spread awareness of the many fascinating centres of living history, are greatly appreciated by many Cyprus44 users. Please let me know if you ever get around to writing your own guide-book.

Here was me thinking it would be a good idea for Hans to start a website about all the local mosques, churches and other places that may be of interest. Oh he has, silly me he has but he constantly posts on c44 about his website. Free advertising or what? Why not pay for an advert Hans?

RE msg 6, LaptaSausage: (...) Oh he has, silly me he has but he constantly posts on c44 about his website. Free advertising or what? Why not pay for an advert Hans? (...) => I publish a link to a free "List of updates" [ http://is.gd/gctxf ] when there is a reason i.e. an update. It's called information for interested readers and not advertising. Most people here seem to understand that. Too bad you don't: http://is.gd/gtxGW

RE msg 12 DutchCrusader, most companies update their websites on a second by second basis, does that mean they are entitled to free advertising????

RE msg 14, LaptaMike: (...) RE msg 12 DutchCrusader (...) => Are you feeling well? You are now replying to your own post and then ask me a question... Take it easy for the rest of today, LaptaMike... P.S. My website "All About All Crusades" [ http://www.allcrusades.com ] is not "a company" and - again - I don't "advertise" the site. Again: I publish a link to a free "List of updates" [ http://is.gd/gctxf ] when there is a reason i.e. an update. It's called information for readers who may be interested in other subjects than sausage making and sausage complaints at JK's. What's your problem? Still hurt and angry that I said (location: Guido's) that the British kitchen is not exactly famous compared to other countries? By the way: the same goes for the Dutch kitchen. Just facts.

Great photos Hans and brilliant to see what appears to be excellent quality repairs. Something else caught my eye, the scaffolding is about the best I've seen in cyprus, but even walking past this would still scare the living daylights out of me!

Hans, I have actually got over our little dispute about your comments about the British kitchen. I have actually sort of started liking you in a funny sort of way. I agree with a lot of your posts but some of them just annoy me ;-) I don't agree with you rubbing people up the wrong way for no reason at all for example. All I can suggest Hans is that we stick to our own posts and if we have to be critical about each other we do it in a polite, friendly way
