Three Manchester United legends are being offered huge contracts to finish their careers in the Middle East, according to The Sun.

Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville could be paid up to £200,000 a week to leave Old Trafford for Dubai.

The United Arab Emirates has several cash-rich clubs including Al Ahli, managed by former Leeds and Aston Villa boss David O'Leary

Giggs, 36, Scholes, 35, and Neville, 35, are all in the final year of their contracts and could quit United as free agents next summer.

A United insider told The Sun: "Ryan is a legend at United and still an important part of the team but like Scholesy and Gary Neville, he can't go on for ever

bill i read this in the sun this morning , you have to ask what would either player achieve appart from a few million more quid in the bank to go with the tens of millions they already have, if i was giggsy i would retire at the end of this season and go fishing every day !

Andy. He may not want to retire yet and given the lack of playing opportunites with man Utd together with the fact that he does not want to play for another english club, he may choose to end his career abroad.

If it was me, I'd buy a new set of golf clubs and get on the first plane to America and play all the courses over there! (dreaming again!)

I'm with you on that one Andy. They earn far too much money. I'd play for nothing given the chance.

To be fair the three players mentioned have set a fine example to other players on how to conduct themselves when earning vast sums of money. If any choose to accept I suspect it will be as much about trying something new as putting a few more quid in the bank. My guess is giggs may go but not the other two.

Well said Jessie. The three afore mentioned people are fine ambassadors for the game of football,be it here or anywhere in the world. Its hard to believe that i was at Ryan Giggs testimonial game in 2001 against Celtic.God how time flies.Personally,i cant see Paul Scholes moving far from Saddleworth,he is a very private person who seems happy with his lot, hence no more appearances for England. If only he could tackle he wouldnt have been a bad player. How about a season at Oldham,to finish off a great career.

Gary Neville has to be up there with Robbo,Buchan and Keane as a true leader of men and one of the best full backs in Uniteds history, and he loves scousers as well.I do feel though that he has gone on one season too long,as did the great Bobby Charlton.

What can you say about the great Ryan that hasnt already been said.Cant help thinking he would have been an even better if he had chosen to play for England instead of Wales. But i suppose you have to respect his decision.

contd,

Ryan has to be one of the most gifted United players since Georgie.Whatever the three decide to do i wish them well.I cant ever see this type of situation ,where you have one club players happening again.I personally think they will all retire.Good luck,

Paul.

Messages 5 and 6. When I loved sports in my youth the dictionaries of the time defined a sportsman as "one who engages in games of a physical nature to take pleasure from improving skills and fitness." In 2010 my dictionary simply states "a man who plays sports especially a professional player." A sad sign of the times ?
