All you need are two slices of bread and a tin of beans

Open the tin of beans and empty the contents in to a saucepan, now put the saucepan on the hob for about 5 minutes stirring occasionally

Now put your bread into a toaster and once it pops up place it onto a plate and butter it

Now remove the saucepan from the heat and pour the beans over the toast

That folks is my recipe for today, enjoy )

I don't butter the toast as I find it makes the beans look a funny colour! )

a tastier version,

1 tsp oil

1 tin of beans

1 small onion finely chopped

tabasco

wocestershire sauce

a handfull of extra mature grated cheddar cheese

plenty of freshly ground black pepper

2 slices of toast out of the toaster thickly buttered

Method. fry the onion in the oil until translucent, add the beans, tabasco, and worcestershire sauce, bring to a simmer, stir in the grated cheese until it melts into the tomato sauce. Serve on the hot buttered toast with plenty of freshly ground black pepper on top

Re: Message 1 - I wonder, could this possibly be attained with, say, a fried egg, rather than beans? Or, pushing the culinary boat out a little further, both?

A tin of chopped tomatoes instead of beans with maybe a sausage or two.

woody, tomato concasse with sausages would be better. A tin of chopped tomatoes would just make the toast soggy

Woodspeckie and Mike

I like where you're coming from here, from a culinary point of view, I really do!

How about a raspberry and fig coulis? Do you feel that would be a little OTT, or could a robust sausage handle it?

If any ones taking this seriously and I doubt that.

For a really different beans on toast taste, Stir in a teaspoon of Marmite into the beans while heating.

Instead of chopped onions in your beans try chopped up fresh tomatoes with grated cheese, yummy! If you use branson baked beans no need for worcester sauce, as they are already spicy.
