Hello, can somebody give me an update on the current fees for the work permit (deposit in the bank for Russians, monthly sigorta)? And I would also like to know what does the work permit give in terms of hospitals and medical care? Thank you

The work permit entitles you to free health treatment at the Government hospitals. You are also entitled to a large reduction on medicines at certain pharmacies. May be someone else can answer your question about the cost of the work permit, social sigorta etc.

When I had to stay ın Lefkoşa hospıtal a few years ago, 80% of the cost was covered, which left me to pay for 20%.

Monthly sigorta etc is 347 tl per person. Not sure on cost of work permit now but I think it was approx 240 tl per year last time we did ours. Find a good accountant that will do all the running around for you.

Work permit is not something 'you' gain yourself. The employer applies and gets that for you,and it is only valid all the while you work for that particular company.

Re. sigorta, it depends on the level of pay you're on and your age what rate of sigorta you'll pay. Sorry I don't know the rates, perhaps someone else on here can let us know cos I'll be interested to know too. I just know that there are different bands and it should be paid monthly by the employer - whether the employer pays it or it's taken out of your salary before you get you're 'take home pay' that's something for you to negotiate with your boss (I suspect most often the latter here) (and I am assuming with my answer that you're asking from the point of view that you are an employee!).

RE: Msg 2 How do you get reductions on medicines, do you know? I've never had to go to hospital to stay, but i have spent a fair amount on medicines etc, and didn't know you could get a discount with your work permit. Do you know which pharmacies or any other info on that please?

Pippie, thank you, you are axactly right, I am an employee. I was also interested from the point of view of the law here - is there any regulation that states sigorta is paid by the employer or they do not care about whose money is that as soon as it is paid?

Just got some information recently and posting it here in case somebody needs it one day. The minimum wage is 1237 TL now and sigorta that should be paid by company from this concrete sum is 213.38 TL, the part that is paid by employee himself is 102 TL. If the salary is higher than a minimum wage, these figures increase. Also the production of the visa will cost 420 TL paid one time per one place of work and blood test which is 80 TL. The deposit for Russians that your company should provide and freeze on the bank account is 750 EURO. Not a cheap thing this work permit is...

So your employee should get the permit for you if you are earning money with them? what if they dont give you a permit? is there a min ammount of hours you can work without one? In the UK u can earn upto 5,000 before you pay anything to government and i heard that u can work 16 hours a week here without? is that correct?

daria We pay around 600 tl per month for sigorta, kdv and and tax plus accountants fees. that is on the minimum wage whether you earn it or not. It is very expensive and are not aware that the employer pays a contribution as well
