i shall try to scan and post later . it is reported cheshire homes have distanced them selves from the ismail thing for a number of reasons lee had no comment to make it is reported. I hope the child recovers well and no one is left with tax bills.

So why not just be brave enough to ask Lee what is going on, instead of hiding behind a dozy post?

RE msg 4, LordJim: (...) lee had no comment to make it is reported. (...) => Wrong. On the front page, fifth column, Mr Hal Crompton is quoted and on page four, first column, Mr Lee Hickens and Mr Karadağ are quoted. Facts are facts, LordJim.

My thoughts are: How sad. Ismail and his family have been served a double blow with the accident and then the tumour. Lee and Jan are fantastic people who saw a need and out of the goodness of their hearts, organised, motivated and led the fund raising to help the situation. All they want is for Ismail to have the treatment he needs, as soon as possible. Bureaucracy and language problems seem to be slowing things up at the moment. Lee and Jan will be feeling very empty, frustrated and sad and I hope that there are plenty of friends rallying round supporting them and that the problems are ironed out quickly.

There is one simple fact: 2 long standing registered charities have so far pulled out of this fund raising exercise because they (and they have the experience of raising and appropriating funds) do not want to be compromised. The fund raisers obviously have Ismail's welfare at heart and good on them for their efforts but at some stage in the game they should just take stock of what they are being told and talk to Cheshire Homes about the way forward.

I do understand what you are saying, AJ, and I am sure Lee will be in discussions to find the best way to move forward, as he is that sort of person. I just think that it is so easy for people to knock others who actually get up off their backsides and try to help. Lee has put much time and effort into the fund raising and I would hate for him to be feeling despondant. I just hope it is sorted soon and Ismail gets the treatment he needs.

| Lee and Jan our thoughts are with you and little Ismail today..It sounds like cheshire homes were happy to support you with the new arm situation but they now feel that for the cancer treatment the cost to cover that should come from the cancer charity trust..Am I right in understanding things in this way ? Please phone as we have lost everyone's numbers, and would love to talk if only to help encourage you to keep up the fantastic work in fund-raising, you have a great deal of people behind you giving you strength. Sorry to hear that Ismail is finding the treatment hard poor little love he is only six after all and its hard enough for an adult to cope with..god willing things will improve but everything takes time..Please Lee and Jan do not get dissheartend by all this.it will work out and we all can continue to raise funds..and if anyone starts to question this..and the way things may go ignore them if they are not pulling their weight and helping in some way themselves... | Sloan I think we all agree that we hope it will be sorted soon but as you know there are ways of doing things out here and if you step outside of those lines then you are letting yourself in for a lot of trouble. It is easy to get carried away in the pursuit of your cause and unfortunately there are a few people with other causes that will realise soon that they have pushed the system too far. I do not want to see Lee get into that situation. AJ |

AJ, I think that you might find that Monday's press release clarifies the situation. Lee has no intention of pushing the system too far.

I hate to say this, but is it not the same old story? Lee and Jan (and many, many others) have done so much in raising funds for this little boy and his family. However, judging by Lee's recent post on here, when he said something along the lines of "when Jan and I have something good to report, we will do so", it sounded to me as though they had come up against some problems that may prove difficult to overcome. There seemed to be a discrepancy about Ismail's Dad's 'green' card and that his Mum had to go back to Turkey to sort this out. Now, please, I am not, in any way, undermining anything Jan and Lee and anyone else has done for this little lad - indeed, far from it. I see the future for this lad, despite everything that folks have done, without too much optimism. I sincerely hope that I'm wrong-although I don't honestly think so. Lee and Jan - I'm keeping my fingers and everything else crossed

Please read the last paragraph in the article, It says it all. Ismails cancer treatment must continue, and if we had not sent funds to Turkey it would have ceased Thank You for your support.

I happen to think a few of you should read AJ`s posts again and start to take it in a bit. Nobody is critising Lee and Jan. There are ways that things need to be done here and if it isnt done that way you have problems. No matter how great and good the cause is. Read the quote from Hal Crompton and think about it.

In life you sometimes have to examine the "rules" particularly when they apply to the life of a child and the emotional needs of his family. Red tape and unnecessary regulations sometimes fail to prioritise need. Sometimes one has to make an ethical and moral decision and accept the outcomes, rather than follow rules which safeguard bureaucrats but do nothing to help safe lives. Money for an arm............money to save his life..............should there really be a choice?

Lapta2, the original post asked for any thoughts on the newspaper item. I merely voiced my my thoughts. I respect other people's opinions, but was expressing the fact that I felt for Lee and Jan after all the work they had put in and hoped that they were not feeling too despondant. Most of us are not in possession of all the facts, so can only surmise.
