Hi there, we had an instant hot water boiler which runs on bottled gas and a hydrofor pump fitted, also the man found that our immersion tank and element (7 years old) was in a poor state and replaced that also.

He did an amazing job, and we were very happy to have such amazing pressure (Power showers now) and the water boiler has never faltered.

He was a quick and clean workman and did a brilliant job. So much so that we got leaflets from him and passed them all round our friends.

This was 2 years ago so do not know the cost now, the cost of it then was 2000 lire (2.5 to the £1) I know it was expensive but we will recoup the costs in 5 years due to the saving on our electric bills. A bottle of gas lasts us about 5/6 weeks, this of course depends on how many showers you have, how long you stay in etc.

The company is Hasan Dincel from Lefkosa, The phone number is 0533 865 16 14 - all our neighbours now have this system also. Good luck with it! Need to see it - email me

The water boilers we supply cost 380 tl... the fitting depends on how much piping and fittings you need... They are great little boilers which are fully guaranteed for a year (spare parts free)... All hassle free and they do save £££££££££ on electricity... call Tony 0533 8303859 for a free no obligation quote..

Forgot to sat they are a mid range boiler ( not Chinese) we have fitted many over the last few months and have great customer reviews.. Normally one winter's savings will pay for the cost of installation

Hi All

According to my calculations.. A rough shower takes about 5 mins long. Now the Lecla electric water heaters work at 5KW per hour on MAX temp. So , knowing that 1 KW of energy per hour costs

0.3 TL, 5 mins of usage of a 5 KW electrical shower (5 x 0.3 = 1.5 TL an hour , so divide 1.5 TL by 60 since there is 60 mins in an hour and that equals 0.025 multiplied by average shower time of 5 mins equals 0.125 TL per shower) costs 0.125 TL per average shower!

Compared to gas:

So, given that a gas bottle lasts 5/6 weeks which is around 45 days! And assuming that the shower is used once a day on average the 6 week cost of running the Lecla electric shower is (45 days multiplied by cost per shower 0.125 TL equals 5.625 TL) 5.625 TL .So my question now is , how much does a single gas bottle cost. Last I checked it was around 23 TL, Im guessing its much more now! So it costs 4 times more to run on Gas!!

Other pointers to consider!

-Assuming you do have a heatlhy back.. Do you really want to risk damaging it hauling heavy gas bottles every 6 weeks??

-What about safety? Gas can be quite dangerous, especially around flames!!

-Well, the initial investment speaks for itself, you can fit 10 LECLA electrical water heaters for the price of one gas heater !!

-Being more than 4 times cheaper to run; I think fitting the LECLA electrical water heater is the only choice.

The numbers speak for themselves.

Why not fit a quality water pump with your water system at home. We have the worlds best pumps money can buy! Japan's top selling HITACHI water pump and hydrofor systems!! Quiet and smooth operation..

TECHMAR is opposite Lemar Karakum in Girne. We also have a branch in Lefkosa, Ortakoy.

Thanks

Hi Yen,

Thanks for your reply. Tried to ring you this morning but no answer. Could you give me a ring on 0533 8721495 as I would like someone to come out and give me a price for the boiler and the installation.

Many thanks

How easy are the showers to fit, given that there is no mains power in the bathroom ?.

Does the retail cost include fitting ?.

yrys88;

I think your figures are a little biased! To start with I bought the best gas heater for 380 TL. How do you work out I can buy 10 Leclas at that price?

The second thing, I am not so sure about the cost of electric per shower - how much is the Electricity board in Cyprus currently charging at the moment per KW? More importantly, you are talking about a 5 minute shower and excluding the time it takes for the water to get hot initially...

With electric wiring involved into the bathroom, would one not need the services of an electriciean as well as a plumber?

Hi BigOz

I was refering to Msg 3 for initial setup cost of 2000 TL.

-The electric board charges about 0.3 TL per KW per hour.

-As it is an instant water heater, the water gets hot instantly.

-Also you bought your gas heater for 380 TL, Lecla instant water heaters cost 199 TL. Almost half price.

-We provide installation for an extra 100 TL.

Thanks

Yen

Good thread but don't forget that the gas boiler gives you hot water to every hot tap in the house! Also don't forget that the gas boiler heats up hot water that has already had solar heating and the n been stored in your hot tank - and that is another story because if you fit a pressure system to your house then you need a pressure hot tank as well!

I have had the gas heater outside for three years now and it is great but in the depths of winter here it goes through a gas cylinder every 16 days! lets say I use 10 cyl's a year and you won't be far out.

Cylinder cost this week 26TL.

The boilers do not need electricity as they have batterys to ignite the gas.... very quick to install... very cheap to run.... Instant hot water at little cost....
