I was fortunate enough to be told that they will be closing for 1 week from November 15th. I do not know the reason why they are closing. I am glad that I was informed it would be closing as it would have been a big shock to find the bank closed....panic!

On another note does anyone know what interest rates Universal bank are offering on lira and sterling!

All the banks will be closed from 13 to 21st November, both dates inclusive. 15th November is a national holiday (declaration of TRNC) followed by four days of Bairam.

Having written the notice personally l made sure l specified the reason for closing. This goes for all banks in the TRNC including government buildings. Looks like l'm on the roll and have advised our customers before anyone else. You have to remember if any of your maturity dates fall within this week you will be unable to make any withdrawals.

On the 16th October I put a thread on this forum notifying Iktisatbank customers of this situaiton. Customers will not be able to make any withdrawals if their maturity date fell during the week of 15th November due to the one week closure for public holidays.

However, Iktisatbank have said that all accounts whose original maturity date was due during this week will in fact now mature on Monday 22nd November and therefore clients will be able to withdraw any money on this date without losing any interest.

That's really big of them, hold your money for extra days, speculating on the overnight spot money market rate and you won't see an extra penny of their profit from your money as it's still working in their HQ which doesn't close down! Sack them and go elsewhere!
