We have today received our Permission to purchase, it was applied for in October 2006, and today we were given our approval number, the dream can continue, well for a while anyway. One piece of advice, if you are waiting for yours, do not sit back and wait or wait for your solicitors to announce you have been given permission, ring, visit the office keep your name in the fore front of there minds. We took Marions advice at the HBPG and it has worked, thank you Marion for all your help

I have been ringing the office very two weeks or so for over a year, and we have visited the office also. Each time to be told that it was with the military, got very frustrated with this proceedure and contacted Marion, Marion at HPBG told me to insist I got a date it was submitted to the military from the people in the office. This led to a very irate but interesting conversation with the lady there, the outcome was that I was told to ring the next day for my number. I left it two days and rung them back again. I was given our approval number, it seems that once approval has come in from the military it then has to go before a group of ministry people who then add their approval and a number is issued. They only meet on a Wednesday, so if you want up to date information ring just before lunch time on a Friday, this way they have the list from that week. Best of luck to everyone who is still waiting, don't give up you can get there.

Hi Brandysour, No G&E dont have theirs, and their application number was 140 in front of ours, but they have never spoken to either their solicitor or the ministry office to chase theirs.

| Hi Oxoners Congratulations, go and celebrate! It's such a relief when PTP finally comes through, it took from October 04 to June 07 for ours to be completed. Very stressful time. We too sought Marian's advice after not hearing from our lawyer. We had actually taken possession of our apartment earlier in the year so were very relieved to say the least. Have a great day. | Fantastic news that some are coming through. Ive just rang the Ministry and had that conversation, they were very reluctant to give out the date that it was sent to the Military, in my case some 8 months after my application! Dont take I dont know for an answer, be polite, but keep insisting. |

I don't wish to appear cynical, but we got our PTP in January, paid our taxes a couple of months ago, signed transfer papers, but so far no kocan. We have been told that very little is happening in the Tapu regarding issuing of new kocans. Whether this is anything to do with the imminent settlement talks is open to debate. Congrats and good luck anyway!

Makes you wonder whether the authorities are keeping the kocans warm for the GC owners! It's Cyprus after all. Anything can and does happen.

Whilst I can appreciate everybodies disappointment about not getting their Kocans, I am still over the moon about getting our Permission to buy. We realised pretty quickly that living here is about overcoming the hurdles put before you by builders, government officals etc. We are still living on a site with no perminent electricity and lots of area's unfinished, and the more we complain the further back we seem to go. So this was a BIG achievement for us and means we are one step closer, no doubt there will be plenty of other hurdles over the next few years, but for now I am going to continue to feel lucky and appreciate all the help we were given.

There seems to be an uneasy growing tide reference the delays and current treatment of foreign buyers/home owners. Even those who tried to support and encourage the government to act correctly are changing their view points. "Offical channels" set up to provide help to buyers, seem to have as much power as the battery in my tooth brush. I sincerely hope for all our sakes the govenment has nothing more than time delays in store for us. Myself, I will keep following the carrot in the hope that the steeper the hill gets the closer the carrot, as that is all I can do. A sincere good luck and success to all.

The delay in issuing title deeds is due to the new legislation earlier this year - i.e. stamping and registration of contracts. Over 4000 contracts were registered which impacted hugely on the District Lands Office. They are still catching up but title deeds are being issued. In addition, the staff take their annual leave in July and August because they all have to be back for the beginning of September when the courts are in full session again. Hold tight - you're almost there!

Molly, That would seem like a genuine reason for the delays. It does make sense. You only needed to see the queues to know that the registration of contracts was going to cause alot of extra work.

Bradus, Contract registration might be having some effect ,but the delay in mine goes back way before that. Think what Elko says in previous posts main reason and as he says , sign the specific performance law petition. However, getting PTP and therfore also knowing the land isnt mortgaged is a weight off everyones mind ,and cause for celebration. Marion Stokes was kind enough to send me a copy of mine ,and also was kind enough to point out something from it that I should check,(the lady deserves a medal). I dont think the database is now viewable but back then if you knew your number you could check every week.

Yes I was one of those that used to check every week on the HBPG site for my PTP. Even if your own was not listed, it was reassuring to see others coming through. Its a real shame we are no longer able to do this. Seems a waste of time just ringing up to be told we are waiting for the military. I am over there in September so will call in and ask in person. Congratulations to those who have recently received their PTP or Title Deeds.

Hi to all of you from happy jack I have recently been advised by my solicitor that they have now received my p.t.p from the council of ministers. It has taken 3 years. I am not sure if the permission from the military is approved or has that already happened before it is sent from the council of ministers. I am very confused. Any comments would be appreciated.

We have had our PTB for sometime now but the real crux of the matter for us is parcelisation. There are 2 lots of 2 villas and our construction company have had the documentation lodged with the land registery office for over 1 month now and we are all just awaiting the call to go in and sign. Until parcelisation is complete the local council will not tarmac our road. The final step for us but one that feels as though it is taking longer than any other part of the process. AJ

| Thank you all for that information, I am now wondering how the parcelisation works when there are a large number of units and the properties are basically completed but not all sold off. Can each purchaser still get there individual title deeds and would the developer have to pay all of his registration land tax on all of the development? Or just the units that are being registerd ? | Happyjack It is not a requirement for all the properties to be sold. However, the site must be completed and Final Approval must be obtained before the parcelisation can take place. The length of time this takes to achieve will be dependant on the size of the development. Speak with your builder to see if you can get a shared title deed in the meantime. |
