A delegation from the European Parliament’s High Level Contact Group for Relations with Cyprus Turks is in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for a series of contacts. The delegation, which is headed by the EP Vice-President and the Group’s Coordinator Liber Roucek, was received by President Derviş Eroğlu yesterday.



Eroğlu and his negotiations team held a meeting with the EP delegation at the Presidential Palace at the end of which no press statement was issued.



Today, the Group members visited the construction site of a new bi-communal waste-water treatment plant in the Haspolat region.

Mayor of the Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality Cemal Bulutoğluları and the Mayor of South Lefkoşa Eleni Mavrou accompanied the EP delegation during the visit.



The water treatment project is being funded by the EU and the Sewerage Board of South Lefkoşa and is implemented by the UNDP.



The new plant, which is worth 25 million Euros, will be able to treat wastewater from 270,000 residents of Cyprus
