Minister of Finance Ersin Tatar has also made public that the functioning of the Immoveable Property Commission topped the agenda of the high level meeting held between Cyprus Turkish and Turkish officials in Ankara on Monday. Speaking on Bayrak Haber yesterday, Tatar said that, during the meeting in the Turkish capital, all agreed on the fact that the Immoveable Property Commission had created a historic opportunity for providing domestic remedy to property matters after gaining its legitimization.

Pointing to the increase in the number of applications to the Commission, the Minister said that the way of financing the property compensations to be ruled out by the Immoveable Property Commission was also discussed in Ankara.

“It had been obvious that Turkey is standing behind the works of the Commission and the Commission’s effectiveness will be multiplied” he went on saying.

Responding to the claim that the current users of properties in the TRNC which were formerly owned by Greek Cypriots would be paying the compensation amount, Minister Tatar stressed that this is not the case.
